I have a PPI AX606.2. Wich is basically an a404.2 and a pro art 50 and a 456 crossover in the same chassis. My question is i want to bridge my front and rear channels to my boston pro 50's. Will the a404.2 run 3 ohm stereo? Are the boston Pro 50 actually 3ohm or slightly higher or lower?

What is the worst thing that can happen? I don't want to damage my amp, just because im being greedy. Why would boston have a strange impedence like 3ohms anyway?

Well, obviously the worst thing that can happen is your amp can go up in smoke, but that can happen running at 8 ohms stereo too.

As far as why 3 ohms?

Imo - to be different. Just something to set them apart from the crowd. It's what successful companies do.

I would imagine the marketing scheme is something like -- get more power out of your (2 ch) amp vs a 4 ohm speaker w/o the added distortion of the 2 ohm speakers.
