3 cubes sealed for a 12"

Are there any subs out there designed for, or that will at least perform well in a sealed box that's 3 cu. ft.? I realize that's quite large for a single 12" sub but I have an old box sitting around doing nothing that I'd like to put to use. Not concerned too much about SPL but rather SQ. Budget is

If that's simply too large for any 12", would it be acceptable to put something lightweight such as an old quilt or pillows inside the box to take up some of the space?

You could always use 2x4's or other pieces of wood to take up airspace, although personally, I like sealed enclosures larger than recommended //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Pillows, quilts, etc. would make the enclosure appear larger to the sub. Just build a new box, or open the hole up for a 15'', 3 cubes is optimal for a sealed 15''.

Really? I know pollyfill by itself would make the enclosure appear larger, but I figured a quilt is thick and solid enough to just take up some space.

Cloth is not very dense, i liked the 2x4 suggestion from the other post. I also think that if you had a very good seal, it would probably do killer lows with very little power. Not saying loud, but good response and reproduction.

I'm not too familiar with IB installs. Would the Exodus Audio Shiva-X work?
Im thinking that may be a bit too big for the Shiva-X. Called them up and they told me only 1.5cubes stuffed with polyfil for that sub. The Tempest needs 3cubes sealed stuffed. Just going by what they told me. PG Xenon maybe?

If you could find an older Boston 12.5lf pro, it would sound nice

in that box, as long as it's well built.

A Dayton HF 12 may workout as well.

These will work well in 3 ft^3 according to my box calcs:

BM Audio Labs ZD-12XAL

DC Sound Lab Level 3

The size of the box would give a Qtc of between 0,707 and 0,8, closer to the first than the latter.
