3 Channel Amp?

This is what I want to do, however I will have two subs instead of one...can I just wire the two subs together and hook them up to the sub input? Sorry for the stupid question I cant seem to find much info about three channel amps.

You can run 2 subs off that 3 channel, Just make sure the final impedance load does not drop below the amplifiers lowest stable ohm load.

For example

Dual voice coil 4 ohm subs, 2 will do either 4 or 1 ohm, so if the amplifiers lowest ohm load can be 1 ohm you would want to wire the subs to a 1ohm load. If the sub channel is only 4 ohm stable then you would want to wire the subs to a 4 ohm load. Use a DMM on the ohm settings to see what your final ohm load will be.

Use this tool here to determain what your final ohm load will be with your subwoofers voice coil configuration.

Thanks for the chart! So would that be the best way to go if all im going to do is have two front speakers and two subs? I was going to just put a amp on the subs but I didn't want to have the bass too much louder than the speakers. If I may ask another question, I want to wire these speakers and two of these subs to the three channel amp.

As you can see the speakers have tweeters. Now again this may seem like a stupid question, but I know you dont hook the tweeters up to the amp, so where would the go? Directly into the HU? As you can see I'm trying my best to do this install myself but figuring out how is proving very difficult.

Edit: Why would I need to use a DMM if I can figure out the ohm load with that chart?

To double check your work of course.

Also you can hook your tweeters up to the amplifier no problem again as long as you follow the ohm laws of the amplifier and use those passive crossovers with that comp set. Those passive crossovers are ment for running them in tantum with the 6.5 off the same amplifier.

I am 99% sure wired together they will be a final ohm load of 4 ohm. So run the speaker leads from the left and right channels to the input of the passive crossovers and then run wires from the passive to the 6.5 and tweeter.

(Just follow the instructions packed in that comp set and you will be fine)

Pretty much all 4 channel amps can be run in 3 channel mode. You combine 2 of the channels together into one, it's called bridging. There's a lot more choices out there for 4 channels.

This^^^^ Majority of all four ch amps can be ran 4ch,and even bridged/stereo configuration with caps/xovers

Again the only way im going to learn is if i ask more stupid questions. On this amp GM-D9500F - Class-FD 4-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier | Pioneer Electronics USA

there is 2 channels called channel A and 2 channels called channel B. Why cant I just use the two channels on channel A for the front speakers and 2 channels on channel B for the 2 subwoofers?

you can absolutely hook up the amp in 4ch with mids and tweets off front stage and subs off rear however I think you will be extremely short for power on the subs using that particular amp. Probably get better results just running one sub.

DMM will help you with setting amp and any troubleshooting you may need to do in the future.

Oh you can?? I just never seen a wiring diagram with that sanario so I assumed it was impossible! Well what if I just got a more powerful amp? Bass is my MAIN objective with the build.

Just make sure the amp can be bridged to the ohm load your subs will give. Many 4 channels can only be bridged to 2 ohms, so if you are planing on running 2 dual 4 subs, you would have to run most amps at 4 ohms which would limit your power

Well I wouldn't want that...So there is no 4 channel amp that will be able to take all the power of two of these? TS-W3002D2|D4 - 12&#34 Champion Series PRO Subwoofer with 3500 Watts Max. (1000 Watts Nom.) | Pioneer Electronics USA

I just REALLY dont want to deal with multiple amps it seems like a headache to deal with

There are some amps that are 1 ohm stable bridged, just not as many. Look for a memphis big belle. It is a 5 channel, but has a good sub output. You could also buy the dual 2 subs and have them wired to 2 ohms.
