3.5's mids and highs

i own a 1989 cutlass calais and it comes with 2 6x9's in the trunk and 2 3.5's in the dash. i had to remove the 6x9's from the trunk because i put in a 12" kicker l5 and the 6x9's really werent audible. so all i have is 2 3.5's in the dash trying to put out some mids and highs over my 2 12's and honestly they are terrible! any suggestions for a pretty loud but good sound quality mids and highs?

put 6.5" speakers in kickpannels.

I would. If you're going to take on the work to make kicks then amping them should be no problem whatsoever.
