OP it's awesome to see someone wanting to take the initiative to learn to shot properly and try it out... I have always said 99% of those who are against guns and shooting are that way because they do don't know how to operate a fire arm and are there for afraid of them which is understandable... I have been shooting since I could hold a gun and have shot professionally for many years... I would highly suggest taking a couple of beginners classes such as a concealed carry class... I would also suggest getting a nice 9mm pistol to start... They are cheap to get and cheap to shoot... The springfield XD, Walter P99's, Glock 23's are all pistols I was thinking of purchasing next... I ultimately decided on on the Walter due to how it fits my hands... I would think the XD and Walther would work well for you and your wife... I suggested a 9mm due to how cheap ammo is and if you and your wife take to shooting it could be used as a nice concealed carry pistol where as a 22 would be virtually useless in that sense... Rifle shooting is a whole new experience that I would suggest you take up after you get used to pistol shooting and decide if it's something you both can enjoy... Like I said though it is nice to see someone willing to get into as I'm sure you will enjoy it greatly once you become comfortable... Just remember firearms are a tool they can cause harm just like any other tool but used correctly they can be tons of fun, safe, and can be very usuful such as ultimately protecting you or your family one day... If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to ask man its just like audio you gotta start learning somewhere...

Ask Robert Kennedy how useless a 22 pistol is a harming someone. OP never mentioned that he wanted to carrry it. I don't know why people are against owning multiple guns. I am kinda behind I only have 6. My brother/roommate has over 40. 13 or so are 22's. they are the most fun to shoot. You can shoot for a couple hours without recoil making your hands shake. You can a box of 333 for $13 vs. 50 for $17.50 of 9mm.

the .22 is the most deadly round if used right, but it's **** near worthless for self defense.

Well hell thats nothin Im gunna buy one now! lol
they ****' date='

Semi Auto Serbu 50

this is what you would want for a .50 semi auto.

The gold one is a Walther P99 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
the camo one is a mosquito as well.

I also forgot the big thing, make sure to use ear protection, you may think your system is loud but a gun is deafening. It's not like on tv it will cause instant damage.

Obviously you can kill someone with a 22 but when it comes down to it and your under pressure your gunna want something bigger... I never said he shouldn't buy more then one and I for one have 2 gun safes full but why would a guy that is just getting into it and may not even continue shooting go out and buy 10 different guns just to try them out?

sig's are nice as hell, but I wouldn't place them with the custom hand built stuff.
I find most of the custom stuff to be unforgiving. The parts fit together much tighter and the springs are much harder making the slides quite difficult to cycle. Especially on the kimbers. Not to mention the prices are too high for most to afford and there really isnt any benefit to a regular shooter. A sig/springfield/glock/taurus/beretta etc will all do just as good for self defense as any kimber will or most other custom pieces but for far less money.
