In any SPL application smaller boxes with huge amounts of power tend to get the most out of lower frequencies (34-1X).

If you do not have much power then a bigger box will do with better efficiency, but at the cost of box rise.

(example - 1ohm rising to 1.5+ohms)

In any case you can in some situations hit the lowend harder even with little power if you have more cone area.

lol well answer his question does more "root mean square" mean more bass. ill answer it as much displacement and as much power in the correctly designed enclosure means more bass ....

Before I spent money on anything, I would get some demo's from reputable members first (Like Jim, Myows10). 3 grand is a lot of money, It would be a shame to waste it on something you dont like. There's a Db Drag show happening on March 29th in Salinas, California. You should drop by and make some friends and get some demo's. That will give you a better idea of what equipment you like, and types of installs that will work best for you.

As many have already said, quite honestly, it has a lot to do with the box and not so much the subs. It really comes down to what "team" or company you want to be associated with.
