250amp alternator, why would an extra battery be needed?

"as soon as the car is running the alternator takes over and powers the car. Thus the car should be able to run till it runs out of gas,as long as you do not exceed the amperage of the alternator."
You are completely missing my point. Batteries help period. You don't have to get one if you don't want to suit yourself I'm telling you I'm 1000000000% certain your system will benefit from it. Alternators regulate their voltage by being full on and full off sometimes they can do this several times a second, it is not a constant power supply unless it is constantly being drained considerably. Whatever though I stopped caring find out yourself.

No need to get your ******* in a bunch i was just stating what i know. If a battery is needed then i would have no problem getting one. Like i said and ill say it again. I just wanted the logic behind the statements i made.

um, no..... they regulate power by charging the feild according to whether it needs more, or less voltage. and this feild, charges the secondaries at a rate dependant on rpm and feild strength. they are constant, while on, and the secondaries put out ac, which is the point of the diode trio, to rectify it into dc... the ac ripple is a by-product of rectification, and is the source of "alternator whine" not high-speed switching. that would be what happens in an amp power supply

no just can't figure out a way to argue it scientifically. Electrical theory tells us that the alternator would do all the work and your batteries are nothing but loads and reserves (which we are arguing for the sake that the alternator could keep up with the current demands. But a car's electrical system is a balance of all the components it is not a simple circuit, and I would challange anyone on here to post a video of their system running not full tilt but a comfortable volume on strickly the alternator, good luck.

If what your set up in your signature is, is right, then we've got almost the same setup, except I have the MRX-M100 and the Kenwood deck, I'm kind of wondering the same thing too, the only time my lights really dim is at 25/35 on my deck, other than that its pretty consistent.

This is not referring to my current set up this will be for my new years set up...4 type-r 12's...2000w rms...and 400rms on the doors. My current setup is not harsh on my electrical for the most part.
