2500$ budget for subs, imaginations welcome

Oh really.. Please tell us your vast experiance with DC.
i know someone who has dealt with DC and has talked to Rusty and DC is starting to use very basic parts....

a couple months ago, you couldn't order their level 3's becuase their chinese workers who made their motors were on strike...

LMS woofers will kill the lows, but really no sub can handle 4KW for long. IMO you're way better off getting 4 15's. PLENTY of drivers that'll do well and hold 2000W. With that kind of power and no limit on box and port volume you should be able to make it happen with plenty of stuff.

Most subs that are designed to withstand 4KW regularly will use a very stiff suspension, not really efficient or friendly for teh lowz.

The old lms drivers were rated at 5000w rms, but yes the suspension was looser than most

Also, there is a limit on space. 16 cubes gross, 44x34x21. WxLxH

So this is going to be some big no wall box that takes up the entire vehicle? I cant stand those. If youre going to do it, do it right.

If youre worried about a wall damaging the vehicle, you dont have to damage it. If you plan it out carefully, there wont be anything that damages the vehicle (except the loudness of the bass). My Expedition had 4 BTL 18s, 8 Sundown 1500s, 10 Kinetik HC2400s all walled at the B pillar. Before that it had setups consisting of 3 15s, and 6 15s. After all was said and done, I sold the vehicle to a Ford dealership, and they were none the wiser that it had a 155+ db, 16,000+ watt walled daily system in it. They didnt have the clue because you couldnt tell.

I like being able to see out of the back, and have a little cargo room. I would be happy to do a clamshell if I could fit it in my dimensions. But i don't like walls, to me they look ridiculous in a daily setup. In comp cars they are fine, but in daily drivers it is impractical and not impressive

So I've narrowed it down to tc drivers lol, either 4 axis 15's, 2 tc lms 5400 18's, or 4 of those 5200's odd eBay.

Do clamshells have to be walled? I'd like to do one with the woofers facing each other toward the middle of the box, magnets at the side of the vehicle (if that made any sense)

If anyone is bored a design for a clam smaller than 24"high 36 deep and 44 wide would be MUCH appreciated. As long as it will play from 25-40 hz effectively I'll be happy

You are misinformed. They do not make the motors they make a few parts for the motors. It was not just the level 3s. It was all subs.
