I just gave ohiogen a call about getting a HO alty from them. I told em i was running 4500RMS on two kinetik2400's and a kinetik800 (in reality itll be closer to 4krms, 4200rms tops).

The guy over the phone said i would need a 220amp alternator (he said they usually test out around 240-250amps, but they rate low), and quoted me at $525+shipping.

Is a 220amp alternator gonna be enough to run 4200RMS? That price is pretty high too, but i hear ohio is the way to go for a reliable alty.

opinions welcome!!

If you have the batts to back it up you can run an incredible amount of power off of that alt. I wouldnt be worried about going bigger if the car is your daily driver.

thanks for the quick replies, i think im gonna give them a call back.

I figure two kinetik2400's and a kinetik800 is plenty of juice for 4krms. the altnerator is currently the weakest link

Its gonna be hard for me to throw down $550 for an alty, but from the sounds of it, its the way to go.

Just two 2400's?

I'll be running around 4500 RMS

Four Group 31's and a 250 amp. 150+ a tad at idle with a tad over 250 at 1800

And I'm worried I'll drop mid 13's if that gives you an idea.

It will work, yes, but you don't need to bump hard on it for long periods of time, I personally think that with just two 2400's you'll probably drop into high 12's.

this wont be a competition vehicle, its a daily driver.

Although there will be times it will be played full tilt, i doubt my body will be able to handle 4krms to the dome for extended periods of time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
