I don't know....I guess I would consider 3kw (program material) pretty high power handling considering they weren't designed for a 30s bassrace or 3s burp, but an extended sound reinforcement application. 3kw for a 3-4hr performance, or all night long in a club, is pretty decent.6" voice coil and yet 1500 rms power handling. I guess that begs the question, why utilize such a large coil, with all the associated disadvantages, if you aren't intending on building a high wattage SPL driver? I guess I just dont understand the design goals of this driver. Pro sound... meh.
They might have preferred the advantages of a larger coil due to the size of the cone.
PE states 15mm Xmax.Im curious what its real xmax figure would be. Im always VERY suspicious when a company lists peak-to-peak numbers instead. What do they have to hide? The accordion style surround doesn't look even look like its capable of the 30mm xmech the specs claim. But apparently it is.
I don't spend a lot of time in PA, but I've noticed a lot of PA drivers advertise the Xmech. I could gander a few guesses as to why it might be important information to know considering their applications.
