New to the forum and kind new to car audio. Yesterday had an audio store around here install everything i had in my previous car to my new car. Im disappointed with the results.

Set up

Front comps - Hertz ESK-165 6.5

Amps - JL 300/2 , JL 500/1 Older slasher series

sub - Infinity Perfect kappa 12 DVQ (sealed box)

Stock rears and stock head unit

all of this is being run on the OEM or stock head unit i dont want to change that out. I think that is causing my problem. The car audio store just used a high to low converter instead of a sound processor.

The front comps have hardly any lows and mids i guess you would say. Mainly i guess you could say it sounds like just the tweeters are working. The comp. woofers are barely putting out anything. The sub sounds decent but i remember it sounding a lot better in my other car. (been about 4 years since ive had all this stuff put in)

My question is would a sound processor fix this issue? Im not sure how it all works with the high to low and sound processors and all that.

Im also not sure if i want to keep the sub in the car, or i at least want it to be turned down a little bit so hoping the bass knob the processors come with will help with that.

Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

with a lot of the newer Hondas they have a small stock amp, so in order to get proper signal either a sound processor or a AudioControl unit where you can sum signals and boost it will be required. A lot of the cheaper Hi/Los just don't cut it.

Thanks for the response. I dont think my model had an amp but i get what you mean, i think mine is a cheap hi/lo. Would the Audio control lc6 or 7 should do the job? with a bass knob?

The shop should have known you will need a sound processor to retain the factory head unit and get great sound with no speakers and amplifiers. Did they even discuss that option with you? It sounds like a Bit ten D is what they should have installed since they sell Hertz.

In Las Vegas you should go to Performance Auto and talk to Jon Webb.

yes the AudioControl will do the job, but as I mentioned before, as did trumpet, a processor such as the BitTen/Bit1 etc.. will also do the trick and give you a lot of tuning capabilities.

Thanks for all the responses, I went with the Audio Control DQ-61 and it made a world of difference, car sounds great cant complain at all, my only issue now is the white noise sound coming from the speakers. Cant figure this out at all. All the noise mics are disabled.

Read it could be a possibility of two things the ground wire, or rca cables. But there is a white noise sound coming from the speakers when no music is being played, buggin the hell outta me, its almost to the point where im ready to cut my losses take all the stuff out and just replace the stock speakers with coax.

Other than that it sounds great, im just not as into car audio as i used to be haha. So if anyone is interested my set up could be up for sale!

You likely have a gain adjustment set too high somewhere. You've described a sound either caused by the gains set improperly and/or the inherent noise floor in your equipment. The DQ-61 and your 300/2 are the prime suspects. Every time your input signal goes through another preamp section the noise floor goes up. It's unavoidable.

Must be thats what the guy that put it in yesterday said it was a gain issue somewhere...That kinda ***** to know that its unavoidable. If that were the case any ideas how much i can sell everything for?

Jl500/1. 300/2

Hertz ESk165

Audio Control DQ-61

Ive shelled out too much money for this system and it sounds good just not sure how ill feel about it in the long run, Kind of wishing i didnt do it.

Sir, in my opinion there's no need to sell everything over a bit of noise that you only hear with no music playing. It sounds like the shop has not given you enough or adequately explained what you paid for to make you feel happy with your purchase.

In Las Vegas either Performance Auto or Findley Customs both offer world class service should you want a second opinion.
