This is still in design and planning stage, I am a few pieces short still read below

What I want/plan on doing:

Pioneer 7" screen, not sure if I'm gonna do a avic or just a avh unit yet.

Front stage: going to be an active 6/5/3/tweet

Rear: 6x9's

Subs: 2 12" in right trunk side panel, fiberglass

Amps: going to run a 5ch, 4ch and a sub amp

What I actually have:

Alpine MRV-f357 5ch:

Front ch: front tweets dash (alpine type x)

Rear ch: front 3" mids dash(not acquired)

Sub ch: front 6" mid bass door(alpine spx-177r)

Alpine MRV-303 4ch:

Front ch: front 5" mids door (alpine spx-137r)

Rear ch: rear 6x9's (not acquired)

Phoenix gold tantrum 1200.1:

Sub ch: 2-12" subs(not acquired)

Crossover:

JBL power series GTX47, 4-way front, 3-way rear, I already own this but haven't had any experience with it other than hooking it up to make sure it worked. Any input would be great.

I also have kinetik HC1400 to go in the trunk. And talked to mechman about a 240a alternator I guess we'll see how horrible the stock one does lol.

What I'm still looking for:

-3" mids looking a the hertz HL-70's I know focal makes the krx line but a little to spendy for me, anyone have any other suggestions that are reasonable?

-2-12" subs, have a line on some hx2's and also on some Phoenix gold RSD competition subs. I used to sell the RSD COMPS and they were actually nice subs when Phoenix gold was going down hill.

-wiring, needing some 1/0ga for the big three and additional battery in the back, some 4ga to run to the amps. Already have stinger rca's so I'm gonna pick up some more of them to come out of the JBL crossover. Need to grab some big speaker wire prolly 10ga for the subs, already have a spool of nice 16ga for mids tweets, may need some 12 or 14 for the front midbass.

-accessories, battery terminals, fused distro blocks, ring and fork terminals ect

So that's the plan, what do you guys think? I'm gonna shoot up pics of the gear I have and the car ?. I don't have any pics of the 1200.1 or the kinetic. Plan on doing the subs in the right side trunk fiberglassed in and the amp rack on the left side. Keeping trunk space to a max.

Have you looked at the alpine 9" head unit with the bundled kit and adding an iDatalink Maestro unit? Why limit yourself to a 7" screen?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I worked at a shop that carried alpine, I'm not a fan of there screens, when it comes to single din units I think they own the market, but thee screens are a little behind, although I would like the clean output of alpine. 7" is just easy cause it's a $30 dash kit and done

Just ordered (2) ANL fuse holders and fuses for the battery in the trunk, along with the 3" mids I chose, HiVi B3S, all off of partsexpress.com. About 2 weeks ago I got some 1/0ga from a buddy who was moving a cleaning out his garage, 17ft of blue, 13ft of purple, and (2) pieces of 3ft silver, all of which is zero point Phoenix Gold. So its coming together slowly but its getting there.

i got about 10ft of Knu OFC 4awg that i could sell you if you'd like. Let me know when its all done and id love to meet up and take a listen to it. Whats your experience with tuning?

Have you looked at the C-dsp?

For subs, They have a long build time but the Sq is PHENOMENAL. I completely recommend SSA Icons or really any of their lines. All very good and SQ oriented. My 1 icon can get pretty **** loud.

Have you ever been to Zaph|Audio Check out the driver comparisons.

I think I have the power wire all worked out I've got a decent pile of wire now, thank you tho.

As for tuning, its really always been by ear but I've never setup more than a 3 way and it wasn't active, so it was more just HP filters and gain, EQ stuff was always for the customer to tune we never went into to much unless they asked us to.

I have a buddy who has a Audiocontrol RTA so I was going to set up a nice base line with that make sure everything is flat and try to set up my crossover pionts without to much overlap, then go from there by ear. Im really not going for crazy SQ more just loud and clean, I wouldnt go out of my way to do a 4-way front but I already had the drivers (Except the 3") so why not. Plus I got a buddy with a 4way in his tundra and wanna see if I can keep up with his he has 8" in the door, 6 in the kick and a 3" and tweet in his pillars.

Subs I have a few different subs I would like but really depends on what I can get a hold of when I have the money to scoop them up. I almost picked up some diamond D3 12's but by the time I had the money they were sold. Missed em by like half a day.

I highly recommend getting a mic and looking at Hanatsus beginners guide for tuning on Diyma. I can throw you a link if youd like. Its excellent for making tuning alot easier. Especially when your going 4 way.

Honestly. Id sell the 6s you have and get a really good midrange that can cross in the 250hz range. Come to the spl show tomorrow and ill let you have a listen of an SSA Icon. So much goodness :3

So it's been awhile, been getting stuff together for the install and some of the plans have changed a bit. I've got 2 different system designs that I'm looking at, really the only difference is the front stage. 8/3/tweet or 6/5/3/tweet. What it's really going to come down to is weather or not I can fit the 6/5/3/tweet. Because I'd rather use that. If not the factory speaker is a 7" with a big plasitic housing. So I don't think there will be any issues doing a 8". I should note that I'm trying to keep the interior of the car looking as stock as possible, so the 8" or the 6/5 will be inside the door behind the factory panel. Also I went with e Kenwood Excelon head unit DDX-6903s, I really wanted the volume knob and pioneer doesn't offer it. It I only a 6" screen but I like the way the Kenwoods work. I'm posting up a coupe system diagram pictures I put together and a power diagram. Let me know what you guys think. I have some buddies coming over to lay everything out tomorrow and going to try to pull the door off and see what kind of actual room I have, that will decide the front stage. And also some component locations, not sure if both subs are going to fit they way I want on one side and not sure I can cram 4 amps on one side with the JBL crossover. Tomorrow I will have a lot more info and hopefully a much better plan. Thanks

So we spread everything out across my living room and made sure I had everything we might need. Only a few little things I need to grab, some threaded inserts and screws, some clear heat shrink, some print outs from a P-touch, some techflex, a couple fans and I still need to grab some 3/4" and 1/2" birch.

Once we got to looking at it the subs are not going to fit on one side, but I still want trunk space so I'm going to do one sub on each side and the amps, battery and crossover in the tire well with a 2-layer amp rack. I've got roadside assistance for flat tires so I'll just have to deal with it, sound is more important. Haha.

The 8" will not fit without modifying my door panel which I don't want to do so 6/5/3/tweet it is. I can fit the 6" on top and the 5" on bottom with a nice angle up for a little bit of imaging. I should only have to cut maybe a 1/2" off the bottom of the speaker hole in the door. I've got some HDPE for rings and building a nice glass pod to hold the 6" and 5". I've also got some foam acoustic baffles for the 5" to go in so they won't be acoustically coupled in the door with the 6". Things are looking good.

Here are a few pictures from the day.

All the gear on the floor laid out.

Got some time today, goal was to get the radio installed and front speaker wires and RCA's ran back on the passenger side. Got most of the way there. So I got the stock radio out. Found out I had the wrong back up camera T-harness and I forgot to grab the antenna adapter. I started by soldering the normal Toyota harness also soldered some power/ground reference wires, remote and ignition wires onto the harness to go back to the amp rackwhen ready. I tested the stock radio and found the 6v camera power and video signals, soldered a rca lead onto the video and the 6v reducer was soldered into the harness with a 5a fuse. Tested my factory Aux in the pocket below the radio and soldered a headphone jack in so the stock aux will work. Wired up the steering wheel controls (PAC SWI-RC) into my harness and left the three interface wires ready to soldered into the car, this one had a ground, a analog data wire that soldered direct into one wire and through a 150ohm to another, then one more control wire. I ran the mic up to the windsheild and there is a GPS Aamtenna that went up to the top front of the dash under the defrost vents. I had the adapter for the USB in the pocket and the second USB went into the glove box, there was a light on a little panel that popped out, I took a file and notched the panel and the USB ran through it nicely. Lastly I wanted to drop everything I would need so I wouldn't have to pull the radio again, front rear and sub RCA's were dropped down to run back. I also ran 2 14ga wires over to the drivers side kick, that will eventually go into the door for the 6"/5", and a pair of 16ga wires to that dash spot for the 3/tweet. These speaker wires will be running across the dash and over to the passenger side to run back to the amp rack. The RCA's the power/ground/rem/ign wires and the speaker wires are coiled up under the center consol ready to in back when I get some more time. I feel like I did my best to keep things clean, but there's just so much it will looks a little "rat nesty". But the deck did go in well, I tested the reverse camera and setup/tested the steering wheel controls before mounting the deck into the stock brackets. Everything works and I'll play with it more tomorrow took me most of the day with a 4hr break for lunch with my wife and some friends. Have some pictures I'll throw up.
