2013 Pioneers and Parking Brake Bypass

I am mostly finished installing my AVH-X3500BHS. I built a parking brake bypass from an automotive relay. I used this video as a reference.



I have it all powered up but the bypass only seems to work some of the time. It worked the first couple times I powered up the head unit. Last night I couldn't get it to play video at all. Does anyone know if Pioneer has made any changes to their 2013 lineup?

 
Pioneer is making it harder and harder to bypass the parking break I see.

When I bypassed my 930bt I didn't have to have the toggle switch or relay.

I would try using a toggle switch instead of the relay and see if that helps. Because the grounding time maybe to quick with the relay.

I assume you already checked the obvious, bad connections, damaged wires, and checked your ground?

 
The relay technique hasn't worked well since the 2012 line of HUs. What you need is either a trigger module (PAC TR7) or a Microbypass (got mine on Amazon). Problem is that the HU has to see the PB as on then off then on again and the relay technique doesn't do that with a time delay.

Pioneer is really starting to get on my nerves...

 
I do, however, think it's ridiculous WHAT Pioneer locks to the PB being on. Like inputs to navigation apps. Do they not know that Americans actually drive with passengers who are perfectly capable of handlin the task?

 
The parking break issue is just annoying and no matter what they do to try and force people into using it, people are going to find a work-a-round.

So makeing it a pain in the butt is a **** move on their part.

Hence why I just bit the bullet and got the Microbypass. Same stuff they use at the local CA shops to demo all the features, installs easy, and hasn't failed me yet.

Glad it's working for ya.

If the ground needs a delay I would go the cheapest route possible and have the two exposed wires in my glovebox and connect them as needed to have a ground delay.

Lol then people would think you're hotwiring a car. That could look kinda cool.

Back OT, though, I think your best bet OP would be to get the trigger module. That way if you upgrade or Pioneer updates their timing for the relay, you can do it on the fly rather than have to buy something else to make it work.

Agreed, I also bought the micro bypass. I think it was $20, shipping was fast, install is easy. Cant go wrong.
