I'm currently trying to upgrade my sound system on my 2013 4runner with standard audio system and I think would get more help from you guys than my 4runner forums.
Local shop wants 75 for the amp install and another 75 for the component and I figured I could do this again by myself if I get all the right resources.
This all started when I picked up a JL 10W0v3-4 in a wedge box for cheap. And figured it's time to upgrade the pathetic standard system since I have my old Rockford Fosgate Power 400.4 4ch amp laying around from my previous car. My plan is to use the stock HU for now and bridge the rear ch for 1 10 inch sub and front channel for the front components and leave the rears speakers. I have now purchased Image Dynamics CTX 65CS which will include a mounting kit for my front doors and I think a tweeter mount that I could use if I decide to mount it on the stock front dash location
I will be using this thread as a guide for my amp install and this thread as well for the speaker install, and install the amp under front passenger seat instead.
First problem I can see is that if I decide to mount the tweeter on the dash location is that according hieroglyphics that someone attached here on this thread, is that front door speakers and front dash speakers are wired as parallel and I concluded that it's not just a simple switch plug and play installation of speakers. Any recommendations on what's the best way of doing this? Do I have to lay new speaker wires going to front door and front dash speaker locations? Where is the best position for the crossover unit? From photos here it looks like there's lot of space behind stock HU compared to door area here..
I have thought of just mounting the tweeter on the door jamb to make it an easier install but cuttting the door jamb just upped the dificulty level on this install for me.
As for wiring is there a online database for factory head unit wiring diagrams? Also where should I tap remote switch? Any one familiar with the 4runner party mode here? Where is the best speaker to tap the 2 sni 35, front, rear, or liftgate?
Have'nt found any thread on how I can snake a speaker wire from under front passenger seat to the rear so any ideas where should I run this speaker cable? I'm thinking of rigging an speaker terminal post on one of the rear panel where I can plug a speaker wire with banana plugs on both ends so I can easily remove the sub box if I need extra cargo.
Here are list of stuff I have gathered so far for the install feel free to add anything I might need to make this install right.
RF 8 AWG Amp Install kit
25 Sq Ft of Sound deadening material from amazon.
Posi tap connectors and this solderless wire terminal and connectors
Fish tape/line
JL 10W0v3-4 in a wedge box
Image Dynamics CTX 65CS
Rockford Fosgate Power 400.4
I think that's it for now. I know I have more questions as I go through this. Thanks in advance for any help!
