200amp alternator limitations

how much max power can you run off of a 200amp alt? i heard that for every 1000watts of power it takes 70amps from the alt.... But with batteries, i believe you could run more than 2700watts off of a 200amp alt. So in summary how much? 5k, 7k, 10k? if anyone actually runs and has experience with a 200amp alt, what is the most power you ran off of it without dropping your voltage levels a ridiculous amount?

There are more factors than the alt it's self. Amp e is very important in trying to figure out this. Also, cables, distance, and many other factors apply. But, with a 200 amp alt you should be able to supply enough power for most systems.

depends on the alt too- what does it make at idle?

i'm running only 5k rms off of a 450 amp iraggi with 6 svr 80-12s- could i run that much power with a 200 amp and 1 rear battery? sure, but i wouldn't want to.

i plan to use a 200 amp alternator to power about 2000 watts RMS, ive been told that should be ok with a good battery setup.

alt is "for" a late model 3/4 chevy/h2 etc. i'm not sure what all vehicles- it's a custom iraggi case etc. made to fit some chevy junk

awsome thanks for the response. you think 5k watts with 2 kinetik 2400's in the rear? maybe a yellow top under the hood or maybe a kinetik 1400 under the hood will be possible?...

im running my goliath on stock 130a right now with 2 optima's in the back

I run 2 Alpine 605s, Alpine 545 and a Alpine MRV T420 on My 200 amp just fine. I made sure the VR was putting out 14.4 volts at idle.

I did make sure they installed a pulley that would make this happen.

Make sure your wiring and grounds are sized right and you have the right size fuses to match.
