2007 RE XXX 12". Which enclosure? Experience with them?

Hey all so I bought an 07 RE XXX 12" and want to build a box tomorrow for it. I have heard of a lot of people not getting what they expected because of all the enclosure confusion between the RE recommended and what it actually needs.

So I am thinking of just doing a sealed enclosure but was looking through the free enclosure sticky and was considering this enclosure: 3.5 @ 35hz. How do you think it would like that ported enclosure. Also any insight as to how it sounds in sealed would be helpfull. Thanks

Trey

installing it in my friends car tomorrow with a powerbass xa3000. Ill take pictures and videos if i can find my camera. Watch out for a thread in General section this weekend

oh damn...too big. 2.5 at 35hz worked really well for me
i really like it. It is on a Sundown 3k but i have it turned down a bit as i am afraid to push it cause it has sooo much throw it almost scares me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

haha but yea my camera broke piece of shit so i cant take pictures or vids...i really like it only thing is it is pretty subtle on the higher notes but i think thats only cause im babying it

hmmm....I had my 15" XXX in a 4.5 @ 32 hz box and it didnt perform at all...... box was to small... I woulda figured that 3.5 was to small for the 12...
how much power did you throw to it? and yea if i didnt tune at 35 (which i wish i tuned a little higher) i dont think it would hit the higher frequencies at all. its all about the lows with this sub i guess..im going to tune it a little better i just threw it in there last night to hear it ill let you know if it gets any better

also this is why i had so much trouble making a box there are so many different opinions on how it should be built. oh well it only cost $35 to build so its w.e

Also depends on the port area....use a lot with this sub, but thats true everyones boxes are different....3.5 is just REALLY big for a 12....except a solo x but at least it'll be efficient lol.

i think the box is a little too small for it...its just not taking advantage of all the throw it has in this box

and i have it on a Sundown 3k at about half gain

I believe i have about 56 sq in of port on for this box so im thinking that isnt enough eh?

so hows it sound?? you like it? think you shoulda gone bigger on the box. I'm gettin mine built within a week at 3 cubes after sub and port displacement. so how is it? what u think you would change?? o yea how big and what kind of ports are u using? aeros or slot?

i think it needs a much bigger box. although it does sound amazing in this box it barely moves, so im guessing that it wants a much bigger box i would go with bigger than 3 cubes after maybe like 3.5 after or more.

Also i used an L slot port. i did 3.2 after to 35hz. I think if I was going to build another box i would do like 3.75 after tuned to 32-34hz. And this thing is power hungry too.
