2005 Nissan Xterra Install

looks pretty nice. i like how the car has a nice spot for the amps already.
what was the wire you pulled out of the car? (pm me if you wanna sell it)
it was my old 4ga power wire i had from a crummy install kit, i tossed it because it was worn out. i do have A LOT of 4ga kollossus fleks power wire left over since i only used like 3 feet for the distroblock.

moar pics.?
will do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif but it's raining now so im running some errands for my truck -- getting new screws and a piece of mdf wood for the amp mount in the back plus some dremel work on the plastic hideaway compartment. **** you rain!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

Chances are that fuse was for the big 3, and when its only 3 feet long it will handle a lot more than just 250 amps.

Chances are it's probably a gain remote, set it to max when you set your gains, basically it's just a volume knob for the amp.
i need to look at the sundown, i believe there's a gain control on it already. so i would not have to install the gain remote for it? not in the mood to figure out where to mount it.

i havent decided if im gonna fuse the alternator wire since it'll be

Sorry for the lack of updates. Lately I've been depressed about the instal because of the rain:

and that I was so tired of having to redo things in the truck, for example the MDFs ring I made would not fit with the door panel so I had to cut out some plastic on my bracket that I bought. It was like the 3rd attempt. On top of that I did the stupid "trying to screw in my components but instead the screw slipped and I punctured the surround of my speakers" trick. The tear wasn't so bad so I got some good silicone and fixed it right up. Also emailed woofersetc.com for a replacement, hopefully, since I just got it.

I did take more pictures of my new speakers next to my factory ones. the difference in magnet sizes is appalling!

Also got around to raamating the trunk area little bit so I could install the amps.

on the plus side, my DDX812 came in! I just installed it and finished everything up in my truck and the only thing I have to do now is:

RAAMat the rear hatch and the rear doors

Get the new box from BJ Fisher and slam in that sexy D6

Anyway on to the pictures!

The DDX812 is hot as hell! The sound is SOOO much better now. I was actually disappointed in the IDs prior to the install and was all wtf those speakers kinda ****! But with this new HU omg it's orgasmic! I could not figure out where my parking switch is so I wired it to the ground to bypass it. Hopefully that works, but I still want to finish that wiring.

On the plus side I got my odometer back. I disconnected the battery neg overnight and when I plugged it back in, my odo was fine, yay!

you better get a new battery. my 05 fronty stock batt died after i put my 2 amps in. i went with a yellow top.
i plan on getting a yellow top soon plus replace some of that connections to the terminals since they are pretty corrugated.

I'm really interested in how this build has progressed. I'm about to do something similar in my '06 XTerra and I really like what what you've done so far.

I'm especially interested in the enclosure you have for your sub and what you did so it wouldn't slide around in the rear as it's not carpeted back there (I had a mishap last year with a bottle of tire wet exploding and making my back trunk area a frickin slip-n-slide. It's much better now, but still has some excess slickness to it).

Please post an update. Inquiring minds wish to know!

is there any way to get rid of all the bull$h!T on the pos. terminal?
An old trick is to use coca cola (Not sure if Pepsi works) and a wire brush (After removing the lead, of course). You can also use baking soda mixed with water and it should run right off.

This is why I keep a small bottle of Coke in the truck with me at all times.

Edit: Bump as well. I really want to see the outcome of this build.
