2005 Nissan Xterra Install

yes get a volt meter on it make sure its above 12 volts stock nissan batts **** also that corosion dont look to good. also when you put the sound mat down make sure to clean the area really well then heat it up and then put it down it will sick better
when my truck was on before i was pushing 14 volts. why would it drop to under 12 all of a sudden? i drove it a little earlier today! i will try jumping it later tonight.

I made an appointment for Tuesday, September 2nd to have my truck looked at. See if I need a new battery, fix my odometer and possible replace the cat in my exhaust (might be flooded, leading to the bad smell). So for now I am not moving my truck to prevent any further possible damage.

This aside, I got started on installing the RAAMat!

I currently have two layers in my drivers door, and one 1/4 layer in the passenger. I stopped because I was hungry as hell and I was getting a bad sunburn. I have about one and a half roll left so I might do three layers on the outer sheet metal and two layer on the inner sheet metal on the front doors.

I am hoping to finish the RAAMat by tomorrow as my speakers and sub should arrive and I can hopefully install it by the night's end //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I will be going to home depot to pick up some perforated aluminum, silicone, and a small piece of mdf so I can patch up the gaps in the doors so it'll be easier to lay the RAAMat over it.

I decided to dremel out the bottom/side of the plastic storeaway bin, mat that area and glue the piece of MDF down, then attach the amps on that wood. Should give me some more breathing room for the amp and make it easier to take care of my wiring without having to remove the stupid store away compartment to access my wiring as it's already hard enough to move stuff around. So I kinda will be building a "false floor."

On to the pictures! Not many pictures as the process is the same for both doors and my hands were dirty from the asphalt and didnt want to mess with my iphone :p

I need to figure out if I can still use my MDF circles I got from teen. If not, I might lay some some rubber damping material between the door panel and the "extender." if you look at the last picture with the RAAMat you can see a bar that runs on the bottom of the door that would have interfered with the speaker magnet if not for the extender. If I can't use the MDF rings, I still won't have any problems with the ID CTX65CS's (I measured).

Crummy factory speakers FTL.

One layer of RAAMat. It looks better with two layers and the rap test produces a very solid and heavy feeling.

omg do you have any idea how many people would LOVE their odometer to jump back to 0?! BTW... your front windows don't match your back windows...:p Great install - keep it up. You have me highly tempted now *squints*

First of all you need to take a closer look at where you have your power wire hooked up to your battery. Thats part of your factory fuse block and is fused at 140 right there. And for your voltage, I have an 05 Frontier and my parents have an 06 Pathfinder and when you start them up they run at 14.4 and as they warm up and the battery calls for less of a charge the voltage with drop to low 13's. The Pathfinder is all stock and does the same thing as my truck. Look on your factory ground wire. It has a current sensor on it. After my truck is warmed up it runs at 13.1 even with the stereo off. And clean that Nissan up, it will thank you.

yeah i did notice a fuse on a block attached to the battery terminal. but i believe that's for the wires heading away from that block. the power wire is on top of it so it should not matter (since the ring terminal is not fused itself?).

i did run my truck for about five minutes before the whole odometer/exhaust fiasco and the voltage was still constant in the 14s to my amp. the alpine sub amp has a current sensor so I use that since it tells me what voltage the amp is getting directly.

what do you mean by cleaning up?

Take the terminal off once. It's fused at 140 where you have it. Hook it direct to the post. As for cleaning up.. It's dirty as hell

ahh thanks. will move the power wire to under the block or to the terminal clamp.

as for cleaning up, i plan on getting my car detailed next month (carpet/seats shampooed, plastic cleaned and buffed, etc). as for the trunk area i don't really care because i throw shit in there all the time.

moar presents!!! the ids are sooo nice! i cant wait to plug them in and the d6 is hot as hell too. sadly i wont be using it for two weeks until my box gets here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

guess what? the IDs are so awesome they dont fit in that bracket i bought. nor do they fit in the mdf rings that teen made for me. do-do? make my own. i dont have any power tools aside from a dremel and a hand drill (thats why i bought my own bracket and had teen make me some. so i borrowed a hacksaw from a friend and made this:

subscribed for an xterra build and someone who actually took pics

lawlz thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif not many xterra builds here.

by the way, can someone please explain the knob that came with the sundown? it seems to be a power knob but what is it for? at most i will probably leave it at max since i want my amp to push full power to my IDs.

I wouldn't put a 300a fuse on the KLM wire, its only rated for 250a
Chances are that fuse was for the big 3, and when its only 3 feet long it will handle a lot more than just 250 amps.

Chances are it's probably a gain remote, set it to max when you set your gains, basically it's just a volume knob for the amp.
