I've finally decided to upgrade my Altima stereo. When
I first got the car I fell in love with the steering wheel controls,
so I kept my stock stereo and tried to make it louder.
Now I'm over that ****.
I put PAC speaker level to RCA adapters on and ran a few
crappy amps and 2 10" Bazooka subs. It has been less
than stellar for the last 2 years, but way louder than stock.
Up front I've got some clarion components, and clarion
6x9 coax's in back.
Here is the car as it sits NOW
Here is the 2 cubic foot box that my Bazooka 10's are in. I plan
to saw out the holes and drop in 2 dayton HO 12" moofers.
I finally got off my butt and picked up a double din fit kit.
I had convinced myself that I needed to wait until I could
by a Kenwood 8120. Then after I joined the forum I
realized that a lot of people like the stuff in my garage
that I was turning my nose up to. (because I could not control
it off the steering wheel)
Here is the plan:
1) Drop in the Alpine and Kenwood HU/eq.
$80 for install, but I cant find the single din trim

2) Buy two 12" Dayton HO's saw out the holes
and put them in the 2 cubic ft box. Run off the
crunch at 125W rms x 2
$280
3) Buy an AQ2200d or similar 1300-1500W@2 ohm, replace the crunch;
remove the 6x9's to let the bass in. I like the AQ because in the future
I could run 1 ohm with some other woofers if I'm looking for a change.
$390
4) Buy the Alpine type X pro's 6.5" or similar, run off the crunch,
or active on the hifonics or some combo of the 2 amps. May need to buy
an external crossover.
$350
5) Buy Sundown SAX 100.2 to run the Alpine type X pro 6.5's, maybe active
with another hifonics vulcan 50w x 2 series vii amp I've got.
$200 used
6) Maybe build a ported box for the Daytons. 3.2 Cubes at 26Hz
$100
I do not have the cash all at once, so this will take me a while.
I will post pics of the install as it progresses.
