2003 Mazda 6s Build Log!

I know it's an old build log, but figured I'd give a status update.

I ended up mounting the Crunch GP3k on the box, and the amp died on my around September-October, can't remember exactly. Crappy solder joints popped from vibrations and some FET's shorted. Seems to be a common problem with certain people with GP3k's.

I've since painted the box, mounted it firing forwards, and got a Sundown 3000D to power the beast. Sub runs much cooler with the Sundown 3000D as opposed to the Crunch. I think the Crunch was sending a bit of a clipped signla. My voltage dropped a lot lower with the GP3k as well. (12.7). Now I'm dropping to 13.5.

Also got rid of the RSD's and dropped in some RE XXX Components. Still running off the Kicker ZX350.4 until I get a more powerful amp. No pics of the comps installed yet cause I need to glass the door panels, as right now they look like hell and I'd rather not show that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. (Jigsaw + My tired as hell + door panels not fitting over the 3/4 MDF baffles + 2a.m. with work the next day... you can guess what went down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif).

Here's some pics, my trunk is broken (not sure how, but it won't open), so I can't open the trunk or fold down my seats until I can get it fixed... ((Seats fold down from inside trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif)).

you get a lot of trunk / rear deck noise? My buddy put a 13v3 in his mazda 6 and he cant turn it up due too horrific rattling. But if you cleaned that up it would look ub3r s3xy

Rear deck not so much, actually hardly any. Rear windshield flex is killing me though as it makes this weird sound, but only on really lowwwwwwww notes. I deadened the whole trunk and rear deck with FatMat (awaits the people that come in crying FatMat is not deadener //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif), and it stopped just about all noise. Don't get me wrong, my trunk rattles, but 3kw and a 15" MT in a trunk, there's no way to stop the rattle besides filling it with cement..

The rattles cannot be heard inside the car, therefore I really don't care. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

At least you didn't poke a hole in the speakers b/c thats what late night gotta go to work in the morning usually dose.

I like that setup 3k to one 15, nice.

Is it loud and dose it dig down?

Haha definitely glad I didn't poke a hole through a speaker //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif.

It's pretty **** loud, the lows kinda roll off below 26-30hz, but that's box design, not the sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif.

Loudest single sub setup I've heard around here and have been told that by many other in the area. Not all that many loud people around here running single subs though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

No sir, not at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

When I was applying it it had a bit of odor, but the smell did not stay in the car at all.

every setup i have did firing forward in a trunk sucked bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif until i sealed it off completly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif but before that they were all horrible and ive tried it in 3 cars.... now sub forward port side is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif tho

Yeah when I had the box like closer towards the cabin it canceled out a lot, but I pushed it all the way back to the trunk lid and it helped a HUGE amount. The low-end output is far greater with it firing forward then when it was sub/port back. I'm in it for the lows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

My box design needs some reworking though, I have a very serious box I'm going to cut on a CNC Mill and it should be FAR better then this crappy box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Oh and just an //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif, I copmpletely forgot but this build log featured the MT, I no longer am running the MT daily. I'm currently running a Juggernaut motor with a custom recone made to take about 2500-3K daily. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. It's stiffer then the MT, and more musical in my opinion, the cone is much lighter though so that may contribute to it a lot.

I plan on sealing it completely off from the trunk with foam / wood / etc once I find another Juggernaut motor and build up another 15. Then I'll be running 2 15's sub/port forward sealed off from the trunk. Kinda like walling off the trunk area //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

But, I've been on the hunt for a Jugg motor that matches for about a month and can't friggin find one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

bishh...think i should upload my buildlog even though i'm about to change some chit around...well a lot of chit?
I say do it, your sub stage is gonna stay the same, that's a huge portion of the build log //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Though you are changing like, everything else.. lmao
