2003 Mazda 6s Build Log!

I have a mazda 6i I can relate on the indash. I couldn't get those screws at the bottom of it to come out. So don't you have 6x8 door speakers?? I have some rockfosgate t1682s speaker in all four doors. Subwoofer grade midbass coming for those speakers. Let me know if u need a little instruction on things i'll see what i can do to help.
Yeah it's 6x8's with the tweeter in the A pillar. Not sure how I'm gonna get a 6.5 in there but I'll just make a baffle for it and cut up the door panel. I'll see. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Thanks for the offer of help, if I run into any problems I'll give you a shout //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The headliner will come off if you take off the dome lights and the ceiling handles as well as the A,B, and C pillars if its the same as the mazda3 because thats what i have and thats the way it worked on mine hope it helps!

Alright cool then, Thanks a lot for the help, I'll give that a shot this weekend.

Wow I have a busy weekend.

Here's my plans starting friday :

Remove old speakers and wire in new amplifier (ZX350.4)

Find a way to mount the PG RSD 6.5's in the door (Yay //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif)

Decide whether to mount tweets in the a pillar (currently there) or in the kicks. (Probably going towards a pillar)

Hook all that up

If I have time, hopefully redo headliner since it's falling like no tomorrow.

Also, clean up engine bay (it's crazy dirty) and run big 3 depending on if my order from Knu gets here this week.

Wish me luck! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

EDIT : Yay! Just received email confirmation that my 50 sq. ft. of FatMat has shipped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

I chose fatmat for the low price, lol. I only plan on doing the trunk in fatmat, since I am running low on the $$$ after dumping $$ into all this and unexpected things (components, zx350.4, etc.) I had to do fatmat since it is much cheaper then SecondSkin and Raamat. I do plan on buying some damplifier in a couple months and doing my whole cabin in it, but that stuff gets pricey and to be honest I can't afford it right now.

Just went out and removed the door panels, these are the easiest door panels I've ever taken of tbh. It all comes off in one piece, and is only held with 3 screws and some pressure clips.sure one of the screws was //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif and was hiding under a sticky rubber thing in the pull handle, but I found him.

Anyways, it'll be interesting to fit these 6.5's in there. Hopefully the tweeter fits in the stock a pillar housing, however I highly doubt it would because that would just make things easy. I'm gonna have to make some sort of baffle and drill it into the door. I don't care about making holes in the car or whatever because it's completely paid for and yeah that's not a problem.

This will be started this weekend, though I have a feeling I won't finish it in time and will be driving in silence next week.

We'll see!

I've never installed speakers that didn't fit in the doors, anybody have any suggestions? Not sure on how to go about it... Should I just get some MDF cut to fit the RSD mid and bolt it onto the door? Lol..

Well MDF would be the way to go if u can't just go out and buy a baffle for it. If you MDF get some non hardening modeling clay and place it around and under the cut baffle. That will deaden the baffle and the deader your door are the better. the clay cost like 97 cents or something.

Yeah I was figuring some kind of mdf baffle, thanks for the tip with the clay though, makes sense. I would never have thought of that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif.

Well, saw the opportunity today and figured I'd do the big 3. I did it and that's done (used Knu 1/0 wire and ring terminals I got from Kent at Team H&K)

All went well, wasn't too difficult on my car thankfully.

no pics u fail :p
Hahaha, pics of the big 3? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Well it's currently raining, but I'll see what I can do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The Big 3, couldn't get a pic by the alternator since it was under the engine. This made it hard as hell to get to as I had to jack up the car and do the wiring on the alternator from the bottom blindly since you can't see it from under.

As you know, click to make bigger. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Just some pics I took of the car. It's dirty as hell and needs a wash/wax, but I wanna finish all this stuff before giving it a good detail as I keep getting grease and crap on it.

well Thanks for letting me know i'd have to jack up my mazda just to do the BIG 3 that's not good news at all. LOL

Yeah, the alternator placement on the 6 is terrible. It's under the engine and kinda a pain to get to. I had mine replaced so the casing was a bit bigger and easier to get to, but none the less it was a pain in the *** since you can't see the alt from the bottom of the car, you just have to do it by feel.

If you do anything on your Mazda 6 and need some help or get stuck somewhere get at me and I can try to help you out, I'm doing pretty much everything so if you happen to get stuck somewhere I can help you out hopefully. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

****, I never realized 10gauge speaker wire was so huge. I don't think I'll be able to use it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

It's massive. Lol. But the GP3k said it used 10gauge speaker terminals, so I figured *lightbulb* 10 gauge wire!

Nope. Lol, the push terminals on the sub hardly accept it by itself, and I'll need to double it up on one of the VC's to wire it down to 1Ω, unless I can figure out a genius invention.

I believe it was a Mazda 6 that bassboxed a mid 143 (60 sec avg on music) with one MT 12" in a CRX style box with 4 in aeros and won IASCA flyweight bassboxing at SBN last year.. Never really heard of CRX styl boxes in trunks, but it worked for this guy i guess. Just thought you might want to try it.

Hey thanks for the post, I'll consider it but I don't really have experience with aero's and don't feel like learning. Haha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif.

I'm gonna look into this though, see what I can come to.

Thanks a lot man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
