hey im about to install a radio for a friend on his 2001 volvo s60. i have done quite a few system swaps in older cars, but i know volvo's can be a little tricky electronically and i dont want to mess anything up. the one thing im not used to is we will be putting a 12 inch sub to the stock head unit.

now any other system i have installed was quite easy, get to the back of the radio, plug in rca cables in the back. along with the antenna, then run the blue remote wire to a lead, then the sub wiring to the amp. its always been quite easy yet its always been an after market cd player...

is the back of the volvo's radio easy, do i just plug in rca's? ive also read a lot about some software download.??? like i said its an 01, ive done a lot of searching, so if someone could lead me in the right direction, or have a nice tutorial or how to. that would be great. like i said im familiar with subs, amps and the NORMAL wiring kit (remote, speakers, rca;s) but is anything special needed for the volvo. any links or insight would be appreciated!

I dunno about the volvo's fatcory HU, but I would imagine it does not have preamps, it may, but I doubt it. You will need to get a LOC (Line out Converter). It converts speaker outputs to a preamp signal. All you do is splice into a rear speaker wire, connect the loc, and run your RCA's from the LOC to the amp.
