I'm looking to install a head unit and subs in my 2001 Chevrolet Venture. Best Buy told me that I need to buy this wiring harness. Axxess Aftermarket Radio Installation Kit for Select GM Vehicles Black GMOS-01 - Best Buy

I'll buy it if I have to, but I literally couldn't care less if I have onstar or the chime. So do I really need it? That's what it sounds like it's supplementing. Is there an alternate harness that I could buy?

Also, are there any good places in real life to buy power wire? Is there anything at Lowes/Home Depot that works?
