Yes, because the amp is less efficient at lower ohm loads. So it has to draw more amperage from your alt/batteries to produce the 2kw.

There are very few amps that I recommend running at .5 ohm for a continuous basis. Even a short period of time at .5 ohm is very hard on most amps.
