Need to put some thump in my sons 2000 gmc sierra exteded cab truck. was wondering which would hit the hardest 4-8's or 2-12's, these must fit under the back seat, so is it best to face the subs forward or fire them down, i know we are limited on box design but any help would be appreciated.

Raise the seat a few inches and do 4 12's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I would fire them forward and go with 2 12's.....Just my own opinion....

Go with two 12's, because your airspace is already limited by the area available under the rear seat. 4 8's would probably require a larger gross cu. ft. than 2 12's. Also there are already enclosures available for this type of application. Atrend ( http://www.atrendusa.com ) offers a vehicle specific enclosure for your make and model. The part number you would look for is an A152-12.

I've already done this build in my son's 2000 Silverado extended cab. He is running four JL 10W3V3's firing forward. I raised the seat 3-1/8". Built a box giving me 1.50 cubes per side with divider in the middle and 1.5" face thickness. Enclosure is sealed. Mounted both amps on back wall in 1/2" MDF. If you PM me with your email address, I will send you build pics. Be prepared for some very complicated cuts around the transmission tunnel if you decide to build a full-width box like I did. By the way, you can't get four 12's firing forward and still have a usable seat.

Already have plans for a new box that will get me 2.0 cubes per side if I raise the seat one more inch. Plan to go with two DD 9512's firing forward for the next build.
