2000 GM radio nightmare

Hello Everyone.

I'm new to this place but, I kind of hope one of you car stereo buffs might know my woes. I've serviced, (and enjoyed) Car and Home stereo for a long time and can't get a strait answer from anyone! Question: How can a person bench test a 200* GM radio/Stereo???? Pie? I think had what they called it a Gome, to stimulate a sys bus and fool the factory head to function. If anybody knows what I'm talking about, Please don't tell me it can't be done! GM is not God

you may have trouble if the radio is a newer theftlock radio... the newer ones are all vin coded - this means that the radio looks to the cars computer to make sure it is ok to turn on. If the vin is the same as the one it's been locked to it will function.

you may get it to turn on, but it wont function.
