2000 1st Gen Honda CRV Headunit Installation Issues
I will attempt to keep this as short and to the point as possible... I NEED HELP this is driving me crazy hahah

Here are my issues...
1: The headunit came with a prewired harness that fits the existing car connection BUT.... when I connect it to the car nothing happens. It wont turn on. This should be simple plug and play, am I wrong to think this?
2: Because the pre wired harness was not working I bought a wiring harness compatible with a 2000 Honda CRV and snipped the prewired harness and then rewired as followed in an effort to troubleshoot:

Yellow = 12v constant power
Black = GND
Red = Ignition
and then the remaining speaker wires to the correct corresponding wires on the harness....
After all this STILL NOTHING....it wont turn on.

This is more of a question than an issue but the black GND wire is split (I havent seen this before) one side of the wire is thicker than the other and that is what I used to connect to the harness, the other thinner end of the black wire I capped off. What does this mean? Anyone know why it is split? Could this be a reason why its not working?
Any help or guidance with this is GREATLY APPRECIATED I need to get this to work ASAP. The only thing I havent done is check connections with a multimeter, I plan on doing this....
