20.1 daily?

i already have a 20.1, just not installed. i planned on getting a ho alternator, battery, big 3. how else can i make my electrical system solid?. what do u guys think i should do? sell the amp? buy a sub that can go lower in ohmz? also its my only car so i dont want the amp to screw my electrical system.

 
I think u should be fine, if u have the amp u might as well try it. How many amps is the HO alt ur getting putting out? because with a 2nd battery and big 3 u should be pretty good already. They recommened a 200 amp fuse for the 20.1 so Im guessing it wont be pulling mroe than that at most.

 
im looking for a ho alternator that will do 200 amps minimum. also im not to keen on using a second battery because its a family car. my wife will be using it and i have a 6yr old son ridding along. not sure where i would put the battery. any options. any recomendations on alternator?. can a to big of an alternator also hurt my electrical system?

There was a whole thread on that, the answer is no. Most people put the 2nd battery in the trunk. 200 amp HO will be more than enough, because it's probably 200amp max draw (at like .25 ohm or something) I doubt regularaly it'll draw more than 150. Dont forget to do the Big 3, u should be set than. I dont know where to tell u to go for ur alt.

 
yeesss. nick got back to me. well, he said it was made for everyday driving and they wouldnt spend alot of money on a amp for only competetions. ( just what i needed to sooth my soul) lol. ill still upgrade my electrical though just to be safe. ill run my massive audio dmx stage2 with the amp until i.a. releases the warden, than ill change the setup again. thx for all the help and infough guys. aloha

 
the 20.1 will run daily @ .5 nominal with no electrical upgrades.. and depending on actual impedence... do 1600-2100 watts

at .5 nominal, efficiency is around 68-70%..

with upgrading wiring, and 2 big batteries.. you'll be able to maintain 12v pretty easily, even with demanding content..

near 12volts with plenty of current.. 20.1 will do between 2400-3kw @ .5 nominal, again depending on actual impedence..

in my car during our little test session, I measured burst current demands of over 320 amps with a couple different bass heavy tracks @ 12volts..

with a sine wave.. 317 amps of continous draw at 11.7 volts ( car wasn't running, and the amp was in use for over 3 hours before power testing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )

go for it. i had mine running at 1 ohm on a stock electrical system in a 93 explorer. that thing was wangin my 18xxx at around 2k no problem and no dimming at all. when i was running 1k watts on a different amp, i was getting dimming. so yeah, i would say it's pretty good for daily. and if you can afford it, why not? it's always good to have that ability to change subs and never need a new amp.

yiiikes......

ill be running .35 daily soon enough and i think my alty will be taking a shit soon enough........ maybe if i keep the gains down and not do 3000w daily it'll prolong the life of the alty.......i cant wait to try this amp
