2 Tidal Audio 10s vs 1 JL W6 12

Nope. What sounds good to you may not sound good to me. Its all subjective. However based on TSP's JL recommends smaller than optimal enclosures.
Before you go spending money on overpriced JL why dont you try out a few things first.

1. Try a different enclosure. A larger sealed enclosure or a ported enclosure.

2. Tune from the HU rather than the amp. Try 63Hz with a 24db slope.

Now what HU are you running? What settings do you have for treble, bass, etc.? And this hasnt been mentioned yet, but did you match your gains on the amp to the HU?
I could try a different enclosure, but if I still don't like the sound of these subs, then I've wasted money on another enclosure. I supposed that could work the other way with the JL too.

I always tune from the HU, which is an Alpine 9887. As far as where I have my EQ settings, I would have to go the the HU and find out. I don't recall those off the top of my head. Yes, the gains have been matched.

Id go with a different enclosure. Set bass and treble to 0 or flat from the HU. You just push the knob and cycle through until they are at zero. I used a 24db slope on my ID8's at 63Hz and down.

The cone area between 2 10's and a single 12 is there, but will not be largely noticeable. The difference between the two setups you've mentioned, should be negligible.

As far as "SQ" drivers, there are MANY to choose from. IA Flatlyne comes to mind. Also, many people here can help with enclosure designs, myself included.

One thing that's puzzling to me is why would Tidal recommend a sealed enclosure size of .7 cubes if the driver actually requires one twice that size? Do they want their driver to sound like chit? What would be the optimum sealed enclosure for these drivers (size and dimensions)? Thanks.

i believe ram mentioned 1.5 cubes each.

as far as what dims, youll have to figure that one out your self, or tell us what you have to work with

and the reason that companies do that is to cut down on warranty claims when woofers are abused which can eaisly happen when someone doesnt know what they are doing (just to be clear im not talking about anyone specific with that one)

1.5 cubes seems huge, but I could try a new enclosure of that size and see how they sound.

Because dumbasses like to toss them in an enclosure and wang on them without setting gains properly. It helps them save money replacing woofers under warranty.

With the 1.5ft^3 I'm just going off of what I remember...I don't have that sub in my winISD library anymore(if you want to send me the t/s I'll gladly put it back in and mess with it). I just remember them needing a larger enclosure, both ported and sealed. Ported needed like 2ft^3 each.
