2 Tidal Audio 10s vs 1 JL W6 12

I currently have a pair of Tidal 10s running in a sealed enclosure with 500-600 watts, however I don't like the SQ of these subs. I know the SQ of the W6 would be much better, but how much output would I lose, if any. If I could get nearly the same amount of output from a single W6 12, I'd like to go that route. I'd be running the W6 in a sealed enclosure as well.

The sq of those subs are actually pretty good. They are re-badged image dynamic subs.
I personally think they sound like chit. My previous subs were Sundown SD-1 v1s. They sounded much better, and they hit harder.

Then its on the user. They are ID10's rebadged as already stated. Exact same T/S parameters.

What type of box are they in? If ported whats it tuned to? How are the headunit settings configured?

On the user? I think I know how to install and tune a subwoofer. I should, I've only been doing this hobby for 20+ years. They are installed in a sealed enclosure (.65 cubes per driver), and it's crossed over at 80hz. It's just not an accurate sub. It may be ok for SPL, but it's definitely not a SQ sub. I've heard W6s before and they sound much better....then again they should, considering how much they cost. I'm just wondering how one 12 would compare, output wise, with the two 10s.

They all have.

Whats the slope at 80Hz? You have them in a smaller enclosure than the recommended enclosure. ID recommends .7 cubes sealed after displacement. Also according to the T/S specs they should be in a ported application.

I've set the slope anywhere from 6 to 24 db per octave. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference. .05 cubes isn't going to make any difference in a sealed application. The spec sheet I got with these drivers says they can be used in ported or sealed applications (obviously, or they wouldn't give sealed enclosure size recommendations).

Output should be comparable. I wouldn't worry about it since a single 12 can get plenty loud for a SQ setup, which it seems like you're after...if you like the W6, go ahead and get it. For what it's worth, winISD shows the Tidal sub wanting a large sealed box, around 1.5ft^3, for a .707qtc.

there both sealed, youll have less cone area with the single 12, if your running them on the same power there is a good chance that it will be slightly quieter.

but just curious, why spend so much on jl.
If you want the best, you gotta pay for it....
