2 SUBS = 1amp or two?

I just ordered a pair of the RE HC's, and I have a question regarding powering them.

Is it better to go with one large amp that will power both or two smaller amps and power them individually?

It is much more efficient to power two subs with one amp. It cuts down on your total current draw from the alternator. It's usually cheaper, too.

Also, depending on the resistance and type of your subs, or total resistance (1, 2, 4, ohms) of the speaker load, you may achieve ZERO benefit by adding another amp.

For example, using two amps that run at 500 watts X 1 into 4 ohms is no better than using one of the SAME amp at 1000 watts X 1 into 2 ohms.

I say its always best to take an amp as low as it can safely go, in terms of resistance, in order to maximize the amount power you can draw from it.

Get one amp...that runs like 2000watts rms at 2ohms...i am assuming u got 2 2ohm dvc subs that can be wired at either .5, 2, or 8 ohms.

can someone please suggest some amps that do 2400 rms at 2 ohms and are around the $400 price range.because i had my mind set on getting 2 hifonics bx1500d's. any help is appreciated

I doubt there is a real world (ie: not Pyramid or something similar with their shady specs) amplifier out there that will produce 2400 watts, for $400.

When did people stop realizing how god-awful much 2400 watts is? Not only do you want an amp that will push that continuous, you want it cheap? If you have to have 2400 watts to power your 2 new subs, get new new subs. My lord.
