2 subs, 1 chamber

is there any advantage to doing this?
not really. Depending on the subs and the enclosure material, they recommend individual chambers for two reasons. One is for enclosure integrity. The divider acts as a brace. Two, even though it is miniscul, no subwoofer performs the same as the next even though they are the same model and make.

Odds are you'll still blow the other sub if you don't change the amp settings, but hopefully you'll be smart enough to realize that they were getting too much power and turn the ****ing gain down ...
Ofcourse, that's assuming that the sub failed due to power reasons as opposed to a manufacturing error //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

really menas nadda, the other 'good' woofer will see twice the airpace if woofer 1 goes..some woofers don't like that kind setup. Me, I have always liked seperate chambers, and the bracing issue is dead on for a better intergrity enclosure.

what's been said is all good...personally, I went with a common chamber box for my dual e12a's for simply cosmetic reasons...I like the like of having one combined port on the side, and having a box that fits nicely into the back of my van with plenty of room left between the wheelwells.
