why does your OP say you have 2/0 wire but then later you say your running 300rms because it's cheaper for 4ga wire?
I'm torn between these two setups for my substage. Vehicle is a '00 Jeep GC. I have ran 2/0 power/ground from the battery & upgraded the big 3 with 2/0. 165A stock alternator & new Duralast redtop. Don't want to upgrade either of those pieces. Either setup will be ported & most likely facing upward.
hmmI have 2/0 welding cable for my Big 3. I'm running 4g power & ground from my battery.
I've ran 2500rms on 12ga before, I don't recommend it but it has been done.you can run 1000 watts from 4 gauge anyways so don't let the size of your wire make you go with a 300 watt amp. The aq1200d which I had running my subs has a 4 gauge input. Trust me they handle more then 600 rms.
lol how hot did that wire get? hehe.I've ran 2500rms on 12ga before, I don't recommend it but it has been done.
I Think he is more limited by his funds then his wire.you can run 1000 watts from 4 gauge anyways so don't let the size of your wire make you go with a 300 watt amp. The aq1200d which I had running my subs has a 4 gauge input. Trust me they handle more then 600 rms.
I ran my aq1200d on 4 gauge it has 120 amp fuses and my lights did not dim at all with stock alt and batt. How much do you have to spend on an amp? I just sold my aq1200d for $190 to someone here on the forum so they are relatively cheap. How much rms can I safely run with 4g ofc. And bu safely I mean with my stock batt & alt being able to keep up & no dimming lights.
1000-1500 of amplifier power.
So why does eveybody on here run 1/0 wire to power a 1kw amp? Seems like a waste of money.I would say around 150amps max...
