(2) RE SE 12's sealed vs. (1) RE XXX 12 ported

don't know, I don't have XXX dude. I only know the SE's pulled a 142 with RE recommended box and RMS wattage. That is loud enough to make talking seem like you are behind a fan. A competitor that I know that has two XXX attached to 1 bx1605D each isn't doing a WHOLE lot better. He did have his tuned higher, it didn't sound good to me or the other guys that heard it, but it was louder...146 maybe?

I like the SE's for what they can do with the 600RMS rating. I like your 30hz tuning better'n my 32hz for daily.

The XXX weight 65lbs each and need a lot more juice.

But that's me.

See, thats what I was thinking, that you cant get much louder with the same size driver, but if you have more subs, thats where you get the biggest SPL increase.

And i hit 138.6 dB with my se's, at rms power, in the rec. ported enclosure for sq, but not for SQL. I now wish I had gotten the SQL, but its tuned to 35 hz, and 1 cube bigger, and I dont have enough room to get any bigger of a box. However, my alt and battery are bad right now, thats the next thing im upgrading, and maybe that will give the increase in SPL at comps im lookin for. I want 144 db or louder sometime pretty soon, within the next year or so.

What Model Brutus do you have pushing the SE's? If it's not the BX1500 or better, then you are not getting 600w RMS to each subs, TRUST ME. MY bx1500 is pushing out ~1200w RMS @ 1ohm which IS perfect for the SE's. You will notice the difference in output. I have my SE's in 4.06ft^3 tuned to 34hz with 54sq in of port area on the bx1500 and it hurts your ears. My SE Vid

My box was 1.85 cu ft each ported to 32hz.

Here's a guideline in THEORY:

double the number of subs OR double the power = 3dbgain

1-2 subs or 2-4 subs or 2 subs-1 amp to 2 subs - 2 amps

double the number of subs AND amps = 6db gain

2 subs 1 amp to 4 subs 2 amps

You most likely wont see the full gain, but somewhere between 1.5 -2.5 when real world stuff happens to the theory.

I HAD 4 SE's and 2 avionixx AXT1200.2 ready to go when i got swayed down to 2 15's. Good luck with your build, TAKE PICS!!
