Hi all.

Im a bit confused.

My car stereo says i can have a sub without an amp - I know things would be better with one but just want to get it working for now.

So my stereo have 2 RCA labelled subwoofer - white and red.

The sub i have just has 2 holes for cables.

Not sure how i go from 2 rca's to 2 plain cable?

Or do i just use one of the sub outputs and split the 2 cables inside and attach to the sub?

Thanks you.

Hi.

Its this one:

I couldnt get it to work so i ended up hard wiring it into the harness.

Seems to work ok now.

With most of those pioneer units, you use the rear speaker outputs for the sub without an amp. But it wont have much power. Never tried it personally

Thanks.
There seems to be enough power - I dont need anything to crazy. 90% of what i listen to in the car is podcasts.

So the sub is working ok but there seems to be equal power going to the sub and the car speakers - So the sub sounds ok but the speakers are clipping a bit.

Sorry, first time installing a sub in a car.

Should there be a way of controlling how much power goes to what speaker?

Or is this were you would need an amp?

Makes sense.

May be a dumb question but:

If wiring a sub to the rear outputs: Should i be using the sub INSTEAD of the rear speakers. So disconnecting the rear speakers and only having the sub playing instead of the rear?

At the moment i think the rear speaker and sub are both connected.

If you wire subwoofers to the rear output, you need to disconnect it rear speakers.
The link you provided for your stereo has the pdf manual at the bottom of the page. It has the full instructions on how to wire it and set it up.

Hi.
Thanks for the help.

Yes i followed the diagram but what i have done wrong is connected the sub to the Green and Green/Black wire but those wires are also still connected to the the harness.

So i just need to cut that wire from the car insert.

Thank you again makes more sense now. =)
