2" vs 3" port

Im in the process of desgning my new ported box. It gunna have 2 12" diamond Cm3's in it. The box is 3.2 cubes after displacent. THe thing is should I run a 2" wide port or a 3" wide port.

Winisd says if it is 2" wide the ports need to be 25" long and if 3" wide it has to be 34" long. The 3" port gives me more cross sectional area, is that what Im looking for??Its goin to be tuned at 28 hz, both the 2" and 3" should sound the same right, or will the 3" be louder.

THe port is 2" or 3" wide x 13.5 high x 25" or 34" long

With 2 12" subs a 2 or 3" port will be too small, go bigger.

yea i wouldnt use anything less than 2 4inch tubes.

Is not a tube its a slot.... ^^^its like the box in sig above( the one in the middle)3" seems like it would be plenty wide or am I wrong??

3" x 13.5" x 34" to give me 28 hz

yea i wouldnt use anything less than 2 4inch tubes.

3x13.5 is bigger than 3 4" tubes. Should be plenty, my 15 Mag has 2 4" tubes and I don't get port noise.

why dont you go with a slotted design if youre worried

about it???

what the hell was wrong with that. i know i didnt pay enough attention to the first post, but the title makes on think of tubed ports. and 12.6 square inches would be minimal for a 12 anyway. there wasnt anything wrong with what i said.

I wouldnt go under 20"^2 for a 12....

Since when is port area only based on speaker diameter ?

i didnt say it was, i was generalizing for a 12.

where did you get 12.6 at??...

2x13.5 ... would be 27 square inches --and

3x13.5 ... would be 40.5 square inches...

i would go with the 3 inch wide port... so you get less port noise.. have fun...
