2 or 4 ohm type R

I was just wondering if I should get my type R as a DVC 4 ohm or a DVC 2 ohm? It will be connected to a kicker 700.5. IT can only go down to a 2 ohm load. I want to run the amp at 2 ohm but want to make sure that the woofer I get can be wired in 2 ohm. I know that the 2 ohm version can but what about the 4 ohm? Is there any advantage to using both voice coils at the same time or can I just wire it with one and get the same results?

Maybe I can get all my equipment sorted out before I start to collect my social security!

1 2ohm DVC = 1 or 4 ohms

1 4ohm DVC = 2 or 8 ohms

If your amp is only stable down to 2 ohms, get the 4ohm DVC. it will be capable of drawing the most power from the amp while remaining thermally stable.

A single 12".

I'm not sure yet if I'll port it or seal it. It's going in the back of my Ranger Super Cab. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm not sure if I trust anyone here to build a ported box corectly or not. There are some good shops I'll check with them.

I think you will be better off with a sealed box. I had a Type R 12, and i loved it.

Unfortunately i blew it due to misuse of the gain knob.

Thanks Ganji you've been a big help. I'm going to order it now Ike-sound $125.00 free shipping and no tax. I'm not sure if I could beat that deal anywhere else.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well, think about this. Ikesound is your cheapest option. I paid 149 for mine from onlinecarstereo.com

thing is, it shipped from LA to my house in arizona in less than 2 days.

With ikesound, you'll have to wait a whole lot longer, since they only ship orders out on thursdays, and it's coming from florida.

You could pay another 20 bucks and have it to bakersfield by the next day.

That's true but my deck isn't here yet and I still need a couple more weeks to save for the installation. I just decided last week to build a stereo and it will take a couple of weeks to get all the components in anyway, so no big rush here, but I can't wait to hear how it will sound. My brother in law works for me and told me that no one at work will ever have a better stereo than he has, so it is time for an *ss kicking. If this doesn't do it then I'll put it in the wifes SUV and go bigger until it does do the job.

Also, I'm going to Ford tomarrow and I may trade my truck in for a new one. My old one is a 2000 Ranger 4x4 x-cab but it only has 160hp the new ones have 207hp and the front looks like an F150. They have such good deals right now with the 0.0% financing that I figured I would at least go check it out.

Once I get it finished I'll be sure to post some pics.
