2 ohms on 4 ohm amp..

ok im assuming this probaly has alot to do with the amp itself, and i know running below rated impedance will cause over heating problems, and be abusive to the amp in general..

but do you think it would be possible to run an amp under its rated impedance without major issues (say run 2 ohms on a 4ohm rated amp) but try not pushing it to full tilt... say its rated at 300 @ 4 then run it at like 250 @ 2...?

wouldnt this send the amp into clipping?? why not just upgrade amp if you want to go lower?

No, it wouldn't, if it could handle the load without frying. If it can't handle it, you'll be able to tell by either it going into protection mode, or getting extremely hot.

It'll be less efficient overall at a lower ohm load though.

depends on the current draw. i run my 500x's bridged @ 2ohms (4 ohm stable bridged) on my doors with no problems

i honestly would recommend to run any amp below its rated impedance, it might work but stress the amp

You will be fine so long as you arn't trying to constantly exceed the current capacity of the amp...

figure the amount of current the amp should be able to provide at it's rated nominal impedance, and set gains accordingly to the new load so you arn't exceeding that amount by a lot..
