i have a QXA1600M and want too wire it to 1 ohm but my amp is stable at 2 ohm. can i wire it to 1 ohm and produce the 1600 watts but not over heat the sub?
Quantum doesn't have a good reputation. There power ratings are not CEA compliant. The amp is not likely to put out RMS anywhere near what the spec says. If it says "2 ohm stable" then don't run it at 1 ohm, you're just asking for trouble (IMO).

alright then well here is another question i have a 4 ohm sub that i would like to wire to 1 ohm and did some messing around with the sub and found that if i connect both the positive and negative sides of both voice coils they equal out to .5 ohm on each side will my sub actually work wired like that?

It also lowers the amps efficiency and raises the current draw.
