standard cab truck, trying to plan out next system. always wanted to go 18's just for the wow factor but unless i go with a wall i just can't do them ported (got about 8 cubes gross to work with) i was originally planning on doing 2 sdc2.5 10's in a small ported box but i figured wtf might as well just do it big.

so 8 cubes gross.... 2 mj18m's sealed or 2 sdc2.5 15's ported

i know they both sound good, i'd assume the mj18m's would sound better in this comparison... im looking for output

btw the mj's would be run off a zx1500 (**** single 4ohm coils) and the aq's would be run off an aq1200D

yeah i was afraid of that, i kinda knew it i mean cone area and port vs sealed says that the 15's should be louder. I just want to run 18's for the aww factor. what i'm thinking i might do, is buy the 18's and run them sealed and since i have them already i won't sell them and ill be forced to build a wall ;-)

MJs will sound better but the AQs certainly will get louder. But if you already have the MJs that would answer my question. The MJs would be fun sealed, they sound really get low.

dodge ram 2002.... i got 60 wide, 10 deep and 29" inches tall, window line is 25" tall, but window itself is 17" tall and 56" wide so i can sacrifice 4" of it.

if i take it to the cieling and do a wall i've got a little over 11 cubes :).... not bad for a standard cab

Hard call. You mention about getting loud first, so im goin to suggest the Audioques, final answer.

The MJs are some very sweet subs that get very low sealed and sound wonderful, just not designed for a huge amount of output. Still some nice subs though.

Any reason its just between these two subs? Cost I would imagine..

I know this isn't one of your choices but I saw ssacket (sp?) selling two 12'' Death Penalties and I think a 40.1 for a real good price. That would be my choice if I were in your situation.

yeah cost... the cost is very close. that and i have a stock 135amp alt, don't want to upgrade that so i'll be running 2 intimidators 9a31's so i have to limit myself to between 1500w-2000w and i'm going to run a sundown 100.2 for my mids/highs so thats 1300-1800 for sub amp.

i don't have the power to run a 40.1 I wish, i love the IA amps, i wouldn't mind a 20.1 on 2 12" Q's but i prefer tons of cone area... one reason why i'm addicted to trying 18's and don't want to let it go.

You won't be dissapointed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Plus, with the 18's you have the option of getting even louder in the future (by walling and porting), with those 15's you'd have to change your whole setup.

I'd do the 18's for sure, even if they might not be quite as loud sealed, in 4 cubes a piece off 1600 watts, they'll drop lower than most hookers, and btw if you could somehow squeeze an extra cube out of that you COULD port them too without walling
