2 ma audio 18's

im a beginner with 15's. in the spring i wanna run 2 1200 watt 18's with a 2500 watt amp. i dont need subs or amps recommended to me and i def dont wanna do a big 3 wiring because idk how. now with that being said. what will i need to power it? i drive an 02 grand am se and idk where to buy upgraded alternators either soo help me out please?

Well if you're running 2500 rms you might just need a big trunk battery... either a Kinetik 2400 or a Powermaster D3100

Do you know what kind of 2500watt amp? A true 2500wrms amp, say like a kicker zx2500.1 you will need 1/0 gauge power and ground wire, a good battery under your hood along with one bigger battery in the rear like a kinetik 2400, or a Powermaster 3100, or Deka G31, along with a inline anl fuse holder with atleast a 200amp anl fuse. The other thing is with two 18s you wont be able to fit those in your trunk of your grand am, well you could but not to get the full benefit out of them, you would want to use something like 2 12s, ma audio makes good product, do there HK12x2s and you wont buy another woofer!

Alternator - Mechman alts, Iraggi alts, Powermaster alts, Ohio Generator, Excessive Amperage alts all are respectible companies for alternators.

Batteries - Kinetik,Powermaster,Yellow tops, Universal Batteries. but if on a budget your best bet is the universal batteries or gettin lucky finding used d3100's or hc2400s.

Big 3 is easy and has been posted 9 1/2 million times on this forum and every other audio forum on the web. search function works well.

you wanna run 2 18's and 2500watts but you def don't wanna do big 3, prepare to get flamed. the big 3 is easy, its 3 wires that are (or should) already be in place you just have to replace them with bigger cable, its like 10ft of cable total.

#1 from the positive on the battery to the alternator

#2 from the negative on the battery to the chassis

#3 from the negative on the battery to the engine block

your electrical system is only as strong as the weekest component.

well i was planning on fiberglassing my trunk and putting the 18's in the corner. add w/e amount of batteries i need and get a better alternator. i know you guys know your shit. i dont plan on pushing the full peak power. if they wont work to full potential maybe i should just go with 1 and a ported box? and the reason i dont even wanna try the big 3 is i have bad luck with electric stuff. i use precaution everytime and still end up getting electrocuted lol. i almost died building my box from a short in an old metal drill. it was a shocking experience. but if its not expensive id rather let a shop do the big 3 for me.

good luck fitting 18s in even close to enough volume fiberglassed in "the corner" of the trunk. Its not gonna happen. Youd probably use the entire trunk as a box just to fit the 2.

And the best budget batteries are the deka intimidators imho

what vehicle do u have first off? im sure u could run the 18s sealed. but maybe not in the corners. but u might be able too pending on what trunk u have

I've never gotten shocked off of 12V before. You probably cause more harm to yourself inhaling resin fumes over the course of your project than you would replacing some cables.

When I picture how he means "in the corner" no way its working. He might be able to bring an enclosure out from the corners but it would have to protrude A LOT and the subs would almost have to be angled up or the spare tire compartment, if any, would have ot be used for the additional height. There a few trunks out there where you might be able to vertical mount an 18, but most cars nowadays dont have that much room

The best car for that would be like a cadillac
