2 JL 10w6v2's or one 12W7...Opinions

I'm currently running in my 97 BMW M3 a JL Audio 500/1 to a ported box with 2 10W6v2's, I am contemplating just running one 12W7, what are your thoughts, should I just stick with what I have or do you think the 12W7 would be, better, louder, cleaner, etc?

it probly wouldn't be an enormous improvement...

you might gain some output (not a ton) but some, if you put it in the right enclosure...

you would gain about the same as adding another 10w6

it would be better if you could send more power to it, 12w7's will take a pounding

come to think of it, you aren't sending enough power to those dubya sexes either, they need about 500 watts a piece... (i just tore the surround on one of mine in a sealed box with 800 watts... i had it at 700 and it was doing awesome, but i thought i could get more out of it... i was wrong... DAMMIT!!!!) good thing i got 3 back-ups haha

i would say you will have better SQ but thats highly subjective, alot of people on this forum think w7's sound like poo, but it's one of the best sounding subs i've ever heard...

the major complaint seems to be that the W7's are a little too "BOOMY"

which is another way of saying they over-emphasize the lows... and if you put it in the JL spec box, i agree...

i would put it in a slightly smaller than spec box,

probly like a 1.5 to 1.6 cube ported box tuned to 34/35

another thing is that 1 12 is gunna take up more space than the 2 10's...

so bassically the w7 will be better (subjectively)... if you put it in a shitty box then it won't...

is it worth the price? ...i highly doubt it...

and i would send it no less than 800 watts running it single... 1000 watts would be ***:

I actually have one already Dave, I was going to put one 12W7 in my Escalade with a 500/1 but after some thought I said screw it, lets go all out and I got a 13W7 and going to put that to a 1000/1, so if I end up keeping my set-up in the BMW the way it is I'll actually be selling MY 12W7 as well.

I have been wondering almost the same thing, I was gonna do 2 w6s or one w7 but I was looking at 13s, I dont know how JL rates their stuff but everyone tells me that the w6s can take more than 500wrms
