2 inch port

Can this be right....internal volume of 4 cubesport diameter of 3" and port length of only 2 inches

what tuning are you trying to get?

i was suprised by that too when i was designing my

round port box...

i have a 3" diameter port with a length of only 6.25 inches...

if you move up to a 4" diameter you will get a longer length and

more port area for your desired tuning... or you could do multiple

ports to get more area...

i just have the one port and dont get any port noise... i dont

know what the big deal is about port area having to be tons...

A 3" round port is not near enough port area, you will probably get a lot of port noise.

i disagree... i honestly have ZERO port noise and a rather small port...

mine is tuned right around 32hz...

give it a try... it was worth it for me to get a smaller box overall...

I had different experience....had two earlier boxes for this sub before I built my current one. All boxes were 2.2cubes (or very near) tuned to 32ish Hz, but the first had 15in^2 and the second, 19in^2 of port area. Both had a ton of noise and didn't produce near the output that I get now with 32in^2.

I've heard of many others getting port noise as well with small ports, but I guess the worst thing that happens is that you get some noise and have to build a new port, which is fairly easy when you're dealing with round ports.

I would make the box a little bigger than you need, and put in some wood pieces to take up space, then if you need a larger port, just take out the extra wood and use a bigger port, while maintaining the same volume.

It also depends on the size and output of your sub...

If you have a cheap 8" sub with only 8mm xmax you would probably be fine with a three inch port...

If you have a 15" sub with 28mm xmax with 3" port you'll probably have a tiny bit of port noise... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
