BTW I DONT THINK SO!! just because the jl is 700 retail doesnt mean it's the best woofer. two 12" idmax in a sealed enclosure would kill the W7 13.5 in spl and sq-especially sq. if was just one idmax it wouldnt be as loud but would definently sound better. W7=SPL

save your money, keep your idmax's they are really good subs, plus they can get loud, especially being fed aroud 1000watts each

The only disadvantage of the JL is the price. I say if it was the say price as the ID max woofer, I would get the JL over the ID max. It will be louder in a ported box than 2 ID's in a sealed box. Porting adds 3 db, and so does adding another sub, such is with the ID's. But the JL is just that good, so I'm confident it would be louder. lol, mad props to the dub7 but for that price, i'll pass..... i'm keeping my idmax's around till i have all my christmas cash saved up and i can buy 2 12' xxx or 10' haven't decided yet

You'd be surpised how quiet dub7s are in a daily install, even with all that displacement ability.

Its also not 100% SPL like you said. In fact, if it was designed for 100% SPL, I'd slap the JL R&D department for doing a horrible job.

:-D. Also, I'm not sure if a 2500D would be the best amp for a 13W7. They come in 1.5 Ohm DVC right? Wiring them parallel would be too much power for the W7, and even if you turn the gain down - a waste of the amp. Series at 3 ohms is only like 1000 RMS?? Proper power for the W7, but again, a waste of a great amp.

EDIT - Is there any way you can port the IDs? You can go as low as say 1.75 cubes each if space is the issue.

go with 2 cubes, i tried 1.75 and it didn't sound too good, go 2 cubes tuned to around 28-30hz, that is my next project as soon as i can get some money saved up for some mdf board, i just spent my money on a modded 1501d......

Yeh, 2 cubes will definately sound better if you can swing it. I only suggested 1.75 because I figured space was the reason he was not porting the 12s.

Then again, he is doing 4 for the w7 isn't he? Stupid me, yes, do 2 cubes each.
