Well this was semi interesting. I've owned an Idmax, and I think that they are very nice speakers.
I think that rated RMS power should be used as a guideline when building a system, nowhere does it say that you must give a speaker the upper limit of its power handling.
Again 1000rms is a lot of power for any 12in speaker regardless of the rating its given. I think that bossman032's Idmax probably blew from sheer abuse.
And I doubt his claims that he gave it a true 1000watts, most likely his signal was distorted thus overheating the coil.
The Idmax had to make sacrifices to decrease the MMS. Probably they have less windings on the coil, and a light weight former.
All of his whining and talking down about his blown sub, doesn't change the fact thats its a great speaker.
