2 Channel to 4 Channel

Alright guys you can see my sig for my setup, but I was wondering something.

I currently have the KX350.2 powering my front and rear interior speakers, I set the gains so they are each getting 45RMS equally and it is working awesome!

However I was just curious about something.

I have a Premier 690 UB and it has 2 sets of preouts and both are being used, front for the amp and the rear for the sub. Now if I was to hook up a 4 channel amp (Kicker ZX350.2 is perfect) the 4 channels take 2 sets of RCA's. Now instead of taking the deck out again, at the amp can I just use a splitter and have the RCA going to my 350.2 go to both channels on the 4 channel amp? Or will that just make it so that I still cannot fade front front to back?

Also if anyone here has experiance with the P690UB's or Pioneers 6900UB there are front and rear pre outs and then there is 2 RCA's coming right out of the back for a sub, but isnt that for the internal amplifier for the sub, or should I have hooked my sub to that and then shut off the internal amplifier?

However the sub output I connected to, not the 2 RCAs dangeling but the preouts next to the "Front" pre outs works on the sub beucase when i shut off SW 1 it turns off my sub, so I hooked it up right.

Basically if I hook up a 4 channel can I just split the RCAs with splitter RCA cables?

Like 2 of these.. http://www.needledoctor.com/Monster-Cable-THX-AI-YF-2-Male-to-1-Female-RCA-Y-Adapter

Will that affect the 4V that is going to the amp? Will it make it 2v?

You can use the splitters as you say but you will not be able to fade front to back. To do that you would need to use the front pre outs to and amp for the fronts and the rear pre outs to an amp for the rears. Or if using a four channel amp use the front outs for channels one and two and the rear outs on channels three and four. If you have sub pre outs use them for your sub amp. I am not familiar with your head unit but if you are using the sub outs your deck may give you control of the subs as far as sub level and perhaps even crossover points.

According to the installation manual, the "dangling" RCA outputs are the rear preamp outputs.

So if you wanted to connect a 4-channel amplifier you could use the front and rear preamp outputs and still retain front/rear fading.

But for future reference; Y-splitters do not split the voltage. If they are 4V outputs, each device will "see" the full voltage.

Ok then I should just get another set of RCA's and then actually make it so I can fade from front to back and then have the sub where it is.

Dont those Dangling ones have an internal amp though? Will that mess up my 350.4?

Yes.

Front RCA outputs to channel 1 & 2 inputs on the 4-channel amplifier.

Rear RCA outputs to channel 3 & 4 inputs on the 4-channel amplifier.

Subwoofer RCA outputs to subwoofer amplifier.

Connect front speakers to channel 1 & 2 outputs on 4-channel amplifier.

Connect rear speakers to channel 3 & 4 outputs on 4-channel amplifier.

Connect subwoofer(s) to outputs on subwoofer amplifier.

No.

And I don't know why you think they do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

If they have RCA style connections, they are not amplified.

Will that mess up my 350.4?
No. Because they aren't amplified. They are a preamp output signal.

Does 4 Ohms have better SQ than 2 ohms?
I don't know whether you are referring to the impedance of the driver itself, or running an amplifier into a 4ohm load as opposed to a 2ohm load.....but it doesn't really matter as the answer to both of those is no.
