If we go to war with North Korea, China wouldn't dare cross us - they might complain a bit, but their military would stay away from us. NK is already looked down upon by nearly the whole world for their pro-nuke policy. While I don't believe they currently posess an actual nuke, there is no questioning that they have the materials to build it once they finish testing of the explosives. I really don't believe that NK will ever give up it's desire to attain nuclear status under the current regime. Not if we give them a non-agression pact and all the economic aid in the world. Unlike Iran, however, there is not a lot of resistance to work with in NK. I imagine that if the people collectively felt they could do better with a different government, it could happen, but that doesn't seem likely.
In the end, I think military force will be necessary to end the threat that North Korea poses. Better to do it before they get the actual nukes and decide to use them or give them to someone who will.

all very good points, Albert...
although it's quite obvious that they have no intention of using it. Whatever they produce would be too unstable for safe delivery. My guess is, if they ever sell the nuke, they will have to send engineers over to the country and assemble it then and there. All their current arsenals have so far been bought from the former Soviet Union as well as China (also a route for the middle east terrorist groups to acquire illegal arms), not manufactured in their own country.
The only thing that North Korea produces that seem to have gained acceptanace are their disposable ciggarette lighters (but I don't trust that too).
Honestly though, China does not have a problem about going to war with the US. They can be downright brutal if they wanted. You wouldn't believe the kind of force they have (just not covered in the media.) Oh, they are a VERY powerful force....

paikiah, china would think more then a few times about ever going to war with the US....... the only way that china would go to war with the us is if we attack it and any country would go to war against the US if it attacked them. they have about a billion soldiers but everything they have to fight with is old and from russia or somewhere else. when was the last time you saw a new technogical weapon that came from china that was worth anything? we couldnt ever hold china has a country with out destorying everything and the only way to win with out doing that is with our econmic power. they are already in bad shape as is. but hey maybe iam wrong..
So you feel it is practically impossible or impossible for them to have these weapons. BOy. And September 11th was impossible. First how do you get through security, 2nd how do you take over a plane with small box cutters. I don't know but they did it. My point is Sadam was able to create a nuclear weapons plant but it was blown up by Israel luckily. Many people were pissed that Israel did this but they don't understand the risk behind it. All No. korea needs is a little help from china who has stated with slight aggression that they have weapons that can hit major cities in the U.S. Getting back to China. Why would China become friends with a long time enemy whose only plan is to crumble the communist leadership in china whether it be through war or economics. If someone had similar morals (communism) and betrayed you would you support an enemy who has practically nothing in common with you? The only way I can see China not going to war with the U.S. is if we tell them we will not take over no. korea or change its government or that we only plan on bombing their nuclear plant. I tried to post my view earlier but the site was down yesterday or monday can't remember which day, then I tried posting last night and got interrupted.
I bet you didn't know this but the truth is china has high military technology. I believe much like us they are researching the laser defense system which could be used for defense or offense. Also the U.S. has given them military secrets (CLinton). SO they do have some military. REmember YOu don't need many nukes to win a war. Hit the key cities and the country will collapse. But this is true for them to. It's a lose lose situation for both sides if it ever went this far, but it could go this far. Remember how they got all aggressive with their fighters when we had our plane up in the sky? THen they also got military equipment from this because they wouldn't give us the plane back immediately. We should have bomb the plane so they couldn't gain info and technology but we were too stupid.
P.S. I know some of you are Clinton lovers but if we would have had him 4-8 more years China would have been able to increase their technology more our military would have had even bigger cuts and China could take their chance with us by sending missiles to our nuclears sites and hitting our key cities but initially starting with taking out communication.

there's a slight err to what you said. China's harad at work, trying to bring down capitalism, if you didn' t know. China doesn't care much about fighting anymore. They are smart, knowing money is ultimate power, and China's got land,the people as well as the resources to do this. However, they are also intelligent enough to make progress one at a time. Opening flood gates to open up to the western world has been proven (like you said, by history books) to be destructive. Don't want 1 billion over people going on a rampage.
Again, I don't believe I said impossible that the North has the weapons, simply that the chances of that happening are very very low. Even with terrorist fundings, it'll still not be enough to yield a nuclear lab large enough to complete a detonating device, much less acquire enough plutonium as it is. Of all people, China does not want the North to have more power than it already "thinks" it possess.
Judging from what you post, you get all your facts from the news. Please try to refer to information gathered by people who are somewhat closer and have more in-depth knowledge into the situation.
