2 Amp hookup? HELP

another question. my front right speaker sounds blown. i have replaced it three times and it is the only speaker that does this. why would it do this? why just this side? it is a 6x8 component and the one before was a three way. wtf?

Fact:

Audiobahn subs are pawn shop/flea market subs. Really not that great. Better than pyle but still a low end sub...

Running multiple sized woofers is horrible. There is no need to cross a subwoofer with another subwoofer. A good 15 or a good 12 will play all audible subbass frequencies regardless. Subwoofer A may just do the certain frequency with more authority than subwoofer B. It still doesnt change the fact they both play them and play them well. Aside from that the sound waves from each will have cancellations issues due to the different sized piston area and different stroke.

Your friend is a moron. Look into distrobution blocks. You run a heavier gauged wire back to the block then 2 smaller gauged wires out to the amps. Positive to positive. negative to negative. Fused distro for the positive and a solid non fused for the ground. Distros on ebay are cheap..do some research

Too many variables on why the speaker is blowing. If I were to guess I would say it is due to clipping.

Now my personal opinion:

Honestly, I am glad you like low end audio equipment. It gets **** expensive if you get into it deeper so it's probably best for you to stay within the realms of the low end brands.

I think you should really stop arguing though because you are arguing with people who have been around and have seen what everything can do and what are and aren't good brands.

ouch. well...i guess i just got schooled. i always thought audiobahn subs were pretty sweet. so what are "high end" brands? Pioneer? Kicker? Pioneer?

Brands depends on what kind of money you can come up with. I think you would be more happy with a single great woofer and appropriate wattage vs a lot of sucky ones.

Ultimately it depends on how much you are willing to spend on amp and subs. The amps you talked about really are not that great either. You want to look for amps rated in RMS alone. MAX is a bad number to go by as you will never hit it.

gotcha. the only reason i look into multiple subs is because i have alot of air to move in my explorer. will just one good sub sound as good as 2 ok subs? and you said i should look at the rms of amps cuz i'll never hit the max, what about subs? same rule apply?

alright, i found Alpine SWR-1222D (TYPE R) for a hundred bucks. would it be worth it to buy 2 of em or are they "flea market quality" like audiobahn?

nah type-rs are decent. They can get pretty loud in the right box and power. They handle a good bit more than their rated power as well.

Always select your amps to what your sub can handle. RMS for both.

Make sure to match the wattage at the specific ohm rating. Like for example I believe the type-r comes in dual 4 and dual 2. dual 2 can be wired to 1 ohm or 4 ohm. dual 4 can be wired to 8 ohm or 2 ohm. so you will want an amp that puts out the rms at the specific resistance.

ok, so apparently i dont know as much as i thought. im pretty sure the subs are dual 2 ohm, but how do i match the ohms on the amp. or how do i set them?

I do but Im busy.

Do some searching on here. All the info you could possibly want to know is on here anyway.

And we all knew you didn't know as much as you thought when you started arguing lol.
