i looked long and hard to find an amp to power both of these subs.....thing is you dont want to buy a hifonics 1500 to power 2 13w7's, for 2 reasons: one- youll be underdriving the subs(thats ok) with an amp you're overdriving(pushing it hard which can make an amp unstable) and also because the brutus 1500 will not put out 1500watts rms. its has a 120amp fuse. (in no way am i saying the brutus *****, it has close to the same power capabilities as the jbl1200.1, i had this amp and i loved it- theyre both good amps) i went with a viper 2500d from scott for 550- a ridiculous deal IMO. i'm gonna try to run my subs at 3ohms....because IMO to have 2 13w7s pumping out 1000w rms each in the same car would slowly deafen you. but if thats what u want- then i would say go with either 2 1000/1s, 2 brutus', or 2 1000w (ACTUALLY 1kw) amps. i expect to be driving around with the volume on my 2500.1 pretty low, but since im extravagant and im a ridiculous audiophile- i wanna turn it up every now and then and put bubbles in my blood for shits and giggles.
Although i have to wait to get some more money- but for now im only gonna be using one 13- untill i get money for fiberglass, comp setup, and paint for the interior. i have one 13 sitting downstairs ready to be put in, and one in it's shipped box.
but anyway- my opinion is to check with scott to see if he has any more 2500s - its a pretty ridiculous amp- recommends a 200amp fuse- ill do some math for shits and giggles: (JL is the only company i know of that makes a perfectly rated amp)
200amps x 13.8 = 2760w(consumtion, dc)
well estimate that this amp is 70% efficient...soo, 2760 x .7 = 1932w (MAX output, arguable though)
rms = (.707)x(MAX) = 1365.924wRMS consistently no problem at any given frquency @13.8v
200amps x 14.4 = 2880w(consumtion, dc)
well estimate that this amp is 70% efficient...soo, 2880 x .7 = 2016w (MAX output, arguable though)
rms = (.707)x(MAX) = 1425wRMS consistently no problem at any given frquency @14.4v
if u wanna say that this amp ***** cuz it only puts out 1425w - keep in mind that a fuse can take about 130% of its rated value for about a second or two- that makes for about 260amps....and for less than a second, even more than 130% - truth is- fuses **** at what theyre designed to do- since it takes time to create the heat that melts the fuse itself, you can easily slide 130amps through a 100amp fuse in less than a second...
hope ii helped

p.s. - NOTHING is EXACT...have a nice day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
p.s.s. - keep in mind that impedences can also change circumstances when doin calcs like this- and theres a lot of guessing in what i just did (ie efficicency, max, fuseheatin etc.)
