2 12s vs 1 12s.. displacement > power?

Hello there. my friend just recently bought 2 Kenwood subs and a kenwood mono amp wired @ 4 ohms rated @ 300w rms.

I have 1 Alpine typer 12" powered by a Cadence TXA-6004 (600x2 rms).

I thought after he bought the setup that his subs wouldnt really pound that hard, but these things want to make my head explode.

Also, my Type-R seems to make a lot of motor noise, it could be cuz im in a little ext. cab truck and my head is RIGHT next to the sub. Also, im running selaed he is ported.

Can anyone explain why his gets so much louder?? I assumed it would be louder cuz hes got an extra sub but I didnt think they would be receiving very much power.

Well, although you have more power than he does, he has twice the displacement, and he is ported.

My suggestion to you, considering you have an R is to go ported, those things come alive when you do it - no lie.

And yes, the reason more than likely that you hear noise is because either A) whoever installed the setup didnt know how to set their crossovers or B) it's right beside your head and ya think about it too much

What I would say do is take the amp to another shop and get them to check over the amp, make sure shit's set up right if they will, or get with a member of the forums and do it that way

I think its time to go ported. The crossover Frequencys are set correctly but I believe the bass/treble adjustments on my 3rd channel (subw channel) are scattered and not set correctly.

Anyone I can make my current sealed box ported without having to build a new box.

Build a new box. Altering a box is a pain. If you need a design let me know. That R will shine once you go ported. If you have room go with around 2.5 cubes since you don't have a ton of power.

Building a new box may be a pain, the box I have no molds to my backseat perfectly and I can barely scoot back far enough. Maybe I could make it taller but I dont have 2.5 cubes to play with.

I was told I could go with a circular port and be ok?? true?
